NCAA Grants Cam McCormick an Eighth & Ninth Year of Eligibility

McCormick is so old that he:
  1. Played with George Mira, Pete Banaszak, Jim Kelly, Santana Moss and Ed Reed.
  2. Voted for Ike over Stevenson.
  3. When he’s feeling groovy he often exclaims, “23 skidoo.“
  4. Was the iceman who inspired Eugene O’Neill to write The Iceman Cometh.
  5. Was at opening night at the Globe for Romeo and Juliet.
  6. Took the last room at the inn, relegating Mary and Joseph to the manger.
  7. In making his way to North America, he walked across the land bridge from Siberia to Alaska.
  8. His favorite soup – primordial soup.

Doesn’t he have tenure by now?

My son, due to redshirting and Covid, will be a grad student next year with 2 years of eligibility.
Lost are all the underclassmen non-covid kids that were in HS when this struck. This screws them royally, but nobody seems to care about that... but by all means let these kids live in college to their advantage

Exactly right.

The capriciousness of the ncaa is mind boggling.

Imagine being in college for 9 years! This man is going to accomplish it. Unless he gets hurt again. Who knows he may make it back and make it a clean decade. How does the math work on this?

9 years of college! He's basically institutionalized at this point. How many degrees does he have? Doesn't the NCAA require "progress" towards a degree for eligibilty?

He's currently enrolled in Miami's post-baccalaureate program. While at Oregon he earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communication and a Master's degree in Advertising and Brand Responsibility. He also completed a number of internships, including those with Fidelity, the University of Oregon Police Department and Courts for Kids, the last of which saw him spent time overseas in Africa as a cultural ambassador.

Sure. But if you keep changing your major, you're progresing toward different degrees. Right?
