NCAA Sweet Sixteen Games for Thurs March 28

Explain further. Does this explain why Bell stands in the corner and reads a book until the ball comes his way?

When you see Bell standing in a corner, take a look at the other corner. Most times there’s a player in the other corner. It’s an offensive set to open the driving lanes which is Judah and JJ strengths. You don’t think Red would be all over his ass if he was just standing there for no good reason.

Bingo! Again, when Coach Drew of Baylor was asked about their teams game plan he stated one name! That was to shut down Girard. Watching the first video, you see Girard immediately point towards the cutting PJ Hall when he realized 2 defenders stayed out on him, letting Schefflin know where to pass the ball.

I love how simple those plays are. Completely designed. Just smart players playing smart basketball.
Coach Brownell said earlier in the year he had no idea how Joe scored so many points and 3 pointers in his career because he was always they guy who seemed to be face guarded by opposing teams best defensive perimeter defender.

We certainly didn't run plays like that for him. But, I think having Buddy on the floor helped open things up for Joe and vice versa.

Oh, I am sure it was planned, as the coach wasn't yelling about it.

However, I am sure there are exit plans or points where it breaks down and you should stop coasting and be an outlet.

There were a couple times when his big was under duress and had nobody to pass to and Joe was off in a corner, nowhere near a passing lane.
He led their team in assists. Smart decision to facilitate if the opponent is scheming to stop you from scoring.

He had 6 assists, 4 points, 4 rebounds.

Quick glance at the play by play shows his second half performance was 2 assists, 4 points, & 1 rebound.

In the 1st half, 3 assists came between the 10 & 7 minute mark, & 1 came at 1:42.

In the 2nd half, 1 assist came at the 14 min mark, the other with 11 seconds to go.

The points came off a 3 at 13 mins, & 1 FT at 11 mins.

Standing in a corner puts a lot of stress on other players. Creates a 4 on 4 situation. Probably should try to be an outlet when Hall or Shiefflin get tied up at 18 feet out & #1 is blanketed. Or, maybe it's genius? I don't know.

That said, it was a fun game to watch.

I just don’t see it. They just went like 2-15 for a stretch and up 9. If they are losing in any 2nd half this tournament I will genuinely be shocked. They have a perfect team tbh. Again, it is wild.
great run Clemson ACC credits so on and so forth but we need Bama to win Saturday. Also glad Illinois got through. I think both the Illini and Tide have enough dudes and firepower to give storz a game. I believe storz has one their last 9 tourney games by double digits. Please God either Illinois or Bama get the Huskies into a tight game at the under 4:00 TO.

What isn’t counted as an assist are plays just like the 2 key plays in the 2 videos above showing how Joe’s movement created scoring opportunities for others. That’s what good teammates do. There are many ways (screens, picks, movement, cutting, boxing out) to help your teammates that don’t always get recognized in stats but coaches, game analysts, teammates recognize it. A 6 to 1 assist to turnover ratio is more than stellar in itself for a point guard less a shooting guard.

I’m curious on how many roster spots we’ve wasted the past 10 years on guys who just stunk the joint up, it’s maddening.
Zone above all else.

Watching two teams like UNC/Alabama is bad enough. Now they are going to add on to it by showing highlights of Syracuse losing to Alabama in the 2004 Sweet 16.

Side note on that game - I used to have a mini Syracuse mascot that would waive its arms up and down. As we were heading to the pub in Toronto to watch the game, my friend grabbed it and brought it along.

We were angry after the game. My friend was a little drunk and threw the mascot onto Mount Plesant Dr (a busy street), a bit too my dismay. The mascot did not survive.
Traveled to that game. At least the next day's spring training game and casino was a good time.

After round 2 I got Illinois to win the East at a profit boosted +750 and the natty +3200. Now I can bet enough on storz Saturday to at least get my $ back.

Maliq Brown for us! He is very good at things that don’t necessarily show up in the box score.

Two observations from last night:
1. It's amazing how many times a coach calls a TO and then his team runs a play to get a quick easy bucket. Seems like that rarely ever happens for us.

2. UNC should hire Roy back as a bench coach for Hubert Davis. Davis has zero idea how to make adjustments during a game. Let Davis do the recruiting and let Roy tell him what to do during the games.

Will be interesting to see if Bama stops cheating towards Girard to prevent easy looks like this for Hall…JG might be set up well to have a huge scoring game to get Clemson to the Final Four.

Joe, Chase, and Hall had good shooting nights, especially from deep @ Alabama earlier in the year. Schefflin with 14 boards. Alabama will have to pick their poison this game on who they want to try and take away.

That is true and conversely a few times when the big took a bad shot and could have passed to Joe.

Clemson will put up points. Bama doesn't play defense. UNC lost because they missed a boatload of makeable shots.

UNC has 54 at the half and only scored 33 in the second half:mad:
The NCST game we scored 55 with Judah Playing 10 minutes and scoring 0. Had a 15 point halftime lead and almost lost. Judah played 18 minutes the second half scored 15 , we scored 33 and won by 3.
