Never Considered Benching Hunt?

Other than the comment about ISIS during the post game press conference what amazed me the most was when Shafer dismissed the reporter who asked him if he ever considered benching Hunt. First Shafer sounded like a crazy man saying we are talking about Syracuse football and then when he was asked a second time about benching Hunt he said he "never" considered it.

This is the second game in a row where your offense has generated 3 points in the first half and you have NEVER considered a change at QB.

Says a lot about the other QB's on the bench, doesn't it.

Because we have nothing at QB.

it was a game when lewis dropped his pass. there is no separation at all except missed assignments/

Our backups aren't very good. I'm not making this up, it's a fact. The next good SU QB isn't walking around campus.

Can Kaleb Joseph play quarterback?

He's struggling to be a point guard right now.

Disagree. He sees the team every day. He knows what he has at QB. What scares me more than Hunt at QB vs. FSU, is Wilson at QB vs. FSU.
Last year they made a big mistake with Drew Allen and this year, they said Hunt had greatly improved. This shakes my confidence in their ability to analyze the QB position. I don't see what Lester is talking about at all. Hunt has not improved much at all - at least so far this season.

If this is what we have in Hunt, we have to watch this for another year after this season and that is depressing.

We have 5 QBs - someone has to be able to throw a screen pass. I think it says more about the staffs inability to see things arent working.
This is the same staff that started Drew Allen

I agree - it is depressing.

his deep ball throws look better than last year. Hunt has to play because in this offense with this OL we need a mobile qb who can improv if the play breaks down

Ordinarily I would agree, but he has a 57% completion rate with 1 TD and 4 Int's and he is throwing a large number of shorter higher percentage passes. For every good long pass he has regressed on every other type. He rarely hits a runner in stride. One of the reasons our bubble screens don;t work is that he hits the receiver low, high, behind and make them jump half the time.

Perhaps more importantly, teams have started to rein in his running. If Hunt can't put up 80-100 yards to make up for his poor passing, we can't score.

I am really shocked at his lack of progress.

I agree with you on the nova, cmu and Maryland games but vs nd and Louisville threw deep as much as short

his lack of running last night I think was by design after banging his hip even though he was good enough to play he couldn't/didn't want to run

Well, not quite the same, but certainly more. Problem of course was he was wild on a lot of those short and intermediate passes. Also, overthrew a sure TD. I don't want to bet overly picky with the kid, but the pass at the end of the half HAS to be thrown into the end zone. He is simply inaccurate and unreliable.

Which is really worrisome when you consider we may be watching Wilson at qb next week. What happened to AJ exactly?

I doubt Hunt made the call to hand off 5 yards deep in the backfield on first and goal and Ameen-Moore on the bench. IMO we need to modify this offense to take advantage of our running backs and get two in the backfield on more occasions.

that's what McDonald said it was a check at the line

AJ weighs approximately 165 pounds. He's redshirting.
