Great summary. Glad you had a chance to see him play, although the game was out of hand early.View attachment 250853
I’m at Jake’s game today. We’ll see how it goes.
Jake's team, Wesleyan, way overmatched their opponent (Mount Pisgah) and crushed them 20-1.
The opponents didn't score until late in the game when the 3rd stringers were playing.
Both schools are within 5 miles of my house.
Jake scored 2 goals, had a couple of assists and hit the frame a couple of times.
Meanwhile, his younger brother scored 3 goals.
I stood by the PA announcer for the entire game and had to remind the clock keeper to stop the clock when the opponent called a time out, as the officials had gone to a running clock when the score reached 12-0 or 13-0.
The clock keeper asked about my SU relationship after seeing my orange SU Lax t-shirt.
It turns out that he is Jake's father. We had a quick chat then and after the game.
Jake will be going for his business degree and is excited to join the Orange.
His father is from NJ and has been a lax fan for most of his life. I mentioned my many trips to Final Four games in the 80's & 1990 as well as Gary Gait's goal from behind the net. He claims to have been at that game as well.
It sounds like his brother may drop lax next year when Jake is at SU as it's not his primary sport.
All in all a good visit to some awesome facilities at that private school. I'll see if I can make it to another game there this season.
Friday night, Wesleyan plays at Buford. Not too far up the road … Jake will go up against ‘26 Syracuse commit Drew Maloney. Should be a much more competitive matchup.
