Tucker Kellogg to 'Cuse. Welcome to the fam, Tucker!

big kid took out a couple defenders, a few different releases, different releases, strong shot with variety of placement. Has a good assist, Will have to use that when he gets on campus I can se him drawing the second defender and having to find the open crease guy.

Perfect mid to pair with Spallina for step down looks. Again, huge pickup.

102 mph? Holy Derek Dejoe !!
Shades of Dejoe or Matt Walters, though Kellogg is bigger & shoots harder than both. It was noted in his latest NLF writeup that he really developed as a feeder this Summer & a poster on FanLax said it was out of necessity due to playing through an injury.

The step-down is strong in this one.

#29 Tucker Kellogg, midfield, Trinity-Pawling (N.Y.) / Prime Time

Kellogg made some noticeable improvements to his game this summer, the most impressive one being his development as a feeder. He’s become a very good passer, excelling at feeding the open man after drawing a slide. Kellogg can also still absolutely murder a net with his shot. He gets a ton of torque and power on his shot and routinely cracks triple digits.

A Maverik Showtime All-Star, Kellogg also has some positional versatility and some see his collegiate future as an attackman. If he stays as a midfielder, you’d like to see him fine tune his defensive game a bit, but either way, he’ll be a great offensive addition to a team as someone who can stretch the defense out and make them pay for sliding to a strong feeder.

HUGE pickup! This kid has an absolute rocket of a shot. I first heard about him during the 2017 World Series of Youth Lax (think LLWS for Lax) when he went viral for a 102 mph shot...as a 13 year old.

Isn’t that Mike Springer type speed?

Definitely sounds like he was dealing with an injury, which might explain why he fell down the rankings a bit.

I would temper expectations. He's on the old side even by 2022 standards (September 03 birthday if I'm recalling correctly). In years past he was considered a candidate for #1 recruit in the class, but he hasn't really progressed and a number of players have surpassed him. Terrific shooter, but not a 5 star recruit.

Valid info. He’s possesses an elite skill with his shot. Xanders called him the best midfield shooter in the class. He doesn’t jump off the screen athletically but he’s certainly someone who has the potential to immediately carve out a roll as a zone buster/man-up specialist as a freshman.

FWIW, & this is something I’ve been meaning to post on here for a while, I personally put more stock in the NLF rankings/content than Xanders/IL. Both do a good job but I feel that Matt Chandik & Co. attend more events & provide much more detailed write-ups/justification on their rankings than Xanders & Co. at IL. I want to stress that I still read/enjoy/value all of Xanders’/IL’s content. When NLF first came out back in 2018, they only covered & ranked players from the 6 founding club teams on the NLF circuit. 2022 was the first class where they ranked the entire nation’s players, regardless of club affiliation & that really legitimized them.

I’m a glutton for any Lax recruiting content but these Sirius Lacrosse Playground Top 66 rankings that I’ve seen on here with school predictions are hard to take seriously. First off, I’ve perused the site & nowhere does it identify anyone responsible for compiling these rankings. I appreciate the write-ups & really like the idea of pointing out aspects of each player’s game that they could improve, but I get the feeling that it’s all done off of film & the “school predictions” seem to be just random guesses, as the majority of ‘23 verbals from their ranked players so far have gone to schools that weren’t even included in their predictions. I haven’t taken the time to cross-reference them all but someone on FanLax says their track record with ‘23 predictions is pretty poor so far & that’s even with them listing 3-7 schools per prospect. In the last 24 hours, Greenspan (ND), Jackson Greene (Harvard), Kyle Lehman (PSU, where his father played) all verballed to schools that weren’t listed amongst their predictions. James Carroll’s brother plays at G’Town, who aren’t amongst his predictions, & Jack Ponzio visited ‘Cuse despite them not included in his. Just a few examples & food for thought.

Older brother Tyler played sparingly as a frosh at UVA in ‘16 & then redshirted in Tiffany’s first year in ‘17 before leaving the team.

Oldest brother Mike played 4 years at Morrisville, graduating in ‘14.

Plays club for Prime Time, which is run by Nick & Chris Daniello (SU ‘10 Co-Captain).

I’ve seen him play for TP a number of times, huge ACC type middie, dodges well down hill and has a cannon! Probably not a 5 star because of Xanders hasn’t seen him play that much!

A guy going into his junior year of high school is too young for me to be concerned about any sort of lack of development. I am seeing a large D1 size frame, a stupidly good shot with both accuracy and speed (including an impressive Mac Okeefe impression when shooting underhand) and even a good deal of speed and athleticism in some of those highlights. No shame in not being able to keep pace with guys like Millon in the eyes of various recruiting watchers.

If he truly has improved as a feeder then that is something that is not just going to stop improving in his junior and senior seasons. He is allowed to be “raw” in a couple areas at this stage. I am nothing but excited. Being labeled “former 5 star” by the biggest name in lax recruiting is the best locker room motivator you could ask for.

Kellogg is a beast. He'll be terrific on the man-up at minimum. I don't think his ceiling is quite as high as other middies in the class, but he'll have an impact in college.

IL often drops guys in the rankings whenever they suffer a significant injury and miss playing time either in high school or on the club circuit. I wouldn't read too much into it. And, to be fair, they've seen more players play by now than when they first ranked players in this class, so sometimes it's not that a player drops, but rather they've discovered someone else and ranked them ahead. For instance, these IMG kids (Stobaugh, Targete) came out of nowhere.
