Class of 2023 New Commit: Tucker Kellogg (NY: Trinity-Pawling) Mid

The sudden success into downstate for these high level kids (I realize Trinity is a post grad school but still) and reaching into St. Anthony’s, it’s astonishing. Like, Troy Weaver-esque

Kellogg looks like a really good player. The shot is ridiculous and he has good size, which is really welcome.

When players have one really defined skill, I think it's easy for them to over-rely on that and not work on other skills, especially in high school. My memory of players like DeJoe and Walters, or Pat Frasier from Hopkins were of guys hanging out above GLE just waiting to receive the ball so they could rip a shot with their feet set. When they were allowed to do that it usually worked out pretty well, but if you are one trick pony, it's that much easier to shut you down. The good news about Kellogg is that it sounds like he's spent time working on his passing, and there were a number of clips of him shooting on the run.

Important to remember these kids are just rising juniors in high school and can develop (or not) a ton more over the next two years. Very curious to see how he develops over the next couple of seasons.

Had been a five-star, but dealt with an injury that limited him this summer. Shoots it harder than anyone in the class. Developing nicely as a feeder, often tossing pretty passes through defenses. Still needs to become a bit more dynamic as a scorer. Tough player and has size (6'1, 190 lbs.) that will fit in well in the ACC. Can be used in the two-man game and has had plenty of success playing attack with the PT 2022's. Great get for the Orange.

Few players in the class (or the 2022 class, honestly) have been on the radar for as long as Kellogg, given that he shot 102 at the World Series of Youth Lacrosse in 2017. Now, with Sept. 1 here, Kellogg's recruiting path has come full circle and he played his best lacrosse of the summer, showcasing his speed, strength and physicality. One thing that stood out was his desire to be coached — he came off the field after each run either with an explanation for what went wrong or insight into why the play worked successfully.
