Dino et al are creating a buzz with recruits, media, and fans...could be a very fun era...
There's no proof that the new recruits are bigger and slower. Or that they can't get faster with our new S+C coaches/plan.
I know how and why the spread developed.
Size-wise, all of our players are pretty much out of position as currently constituted. 6'0'' 215 lbs is a Safety, not an OLB.who is out of position ?

Good frame though, and he's a likely redshirt to give some time to bulk and put on weight. Could see him at S too.I do find it a littler curious that they view Rashad Smith; 6-1 180, as an OLB.
I'm incredibly optimistic for the future, but I think you need to recalibrate your expectations a bit. Two years is not a very long time, at least when it comes to going from being 12-14 ranked classes in the ACC to going toe to toe with anyone. That isn't going to happen Baylor - BAYLOR - after nearly a decade of success, is just now able to take on UT/OU/A&M and getting highly sought after recruit. They certainly weren't doing that after two years. Baylor also happened to recruit a future heisman winner in RGIII in year 1, which helped recruiting, and, of course, being in Texas and in close proximity to elite recruits. Syracuse is probably never going to go toe to toe with any school in the country - at least so long as Syracuse is located in upstate NY - but that's ok. We don't need to in order to have success.Syracuse should be in position to compete with any school in the country within the next two years. Exceptions would be the Monster schools but i still think that we can take on most schools and hold our own. On field wins, ACC, IPF, Dome redo campus improvements all add up to being able to hang with most.
Starting to win will take care of recruiting, we have our yearly schedule to sell to recruits. We have the tough division with Florida St, Clemson, and Louisville all possible top 15 programs, and you can sell that to recruits, to be here and beat them.I'm incredibly optimistic for the future, but I think you need to recalibrate your expectations a bit. I mentioned in a thread on the football board that Shafer (and Marrone, Robinson and probably P at the end) thought Syracuse was a hindrance to their recruiting efforts. And it shows. You can't sell something you don't believe in.
Babers seems to believe in Syracuse as a selling point more than anyone we've had since the good times under P. That on its own makes a difference.
My only take away from that list is that we should be concerned why 10 players actually shrank, in some cases 2 inches, once they arrived on campus. That's just another tool schools can use against us. I can hear Harbaugh now, "Syracuse? Seriously? You like being 6'1" don't you? Go to Syracuse and those cold winters will actually make you shrink."For the record I believe these are all the Shafer recruits and their size at time of commitment followed by their current roster status.

Clearly they were heightening, I blame Kramer!!!My only take away from that list is that we should be concerned why 10 players actually shrank, in some cases 2 inches, once they arrived on campus.
