The rules approved today at the commission’s meeting in New York City have some limits: Players can only make bets in person in the sports lounges at the state’s four new commercial (non Indian nation) casinos, or potentially at the region’s seven full-service Indian nation-owned casinos. Bettors are also prohibited from placing wagers on New York college teams, or on collegiate events taking place within the state.

Of course the state screws this up

until the fix the mobile options and figure how not to screw up the luxury tax it will still not work that well

not being able to bet on any college games in the state will be a hit too

this still means a ton of people have to drive a long ways to make a legal bet.

Collegiate events in state will likely never happen.

Not even in Nevada.

i know listening to VSIN they talk about betting games taking place in vegas so its already Ok in Nevada.

didnt Pennsylvania do it as well?

WV allows it

mississippi allows it

stupid to not allow it.

Took Nevada 40 years, but yea, you can bet unlv in vegas now, been a while too. Guess I just didn’t care to notice.

Can’t in Jersey, doesn’t really bother me, but I guess if I couldn’t win on Cuse it would.

The best way to monitor the integrity of college sports betting is to have those bets placed at regulated casinos.

I’m not sure what the hold up is on the use of an app to bet remotely. But it ensures that millions of dollars will still be bet illegally.

i would like to understand why they think not allowing in state college betting makes it safer. who do they think its rigging a bet, if you try to do that and bet legally it causes all sorts of bells to go off.

forcing the majority of local bets to stay illegal is pretty short sited.

In order to get things rolling, you have to compromise. I’m sure the college betting stipulation appeases someone. Down the road, once people see that legalized sports betting has not destroyed our society, some of these stipulations will be easier to eliminate.

What’s the expression: “don’t make perfection the enemy of good?” Just like marijuana legalization, this is a process. Eventually, we will have what we want.

just fix the mobile first. they can already tell that people are not going to the casinos to bet in droves just by what is happening in other states

Well that sucks.

While wagering on professional sports is allowed, the rules are more restrictive for college sporting events, with a prohibition on games in New York or involving New York-based collegiate teams.

when you have people making the rules who dont understand how stuff works this is what happens.

I was in Del Lago last friday but no one had a timeline i talked with

Construction should be done by Aug 1. Who knows if the hiring and training will be done by then.

Labor Day for sure.

its not a very big place.. 6000 sq ft is only 60x100.

how much different is it than taking a horse bet really. in many ways its far easier.
