Like a Drew Allen from Oklahoma? Jakhari has had a full year learning from the best QB in the nation. I would see what he has before a backup at a Power Football school.

Well the coaches have a pretty good idea if they think Williams is ready or not, so if they bring someone else in they are not convinced he is.

Our starting QB isn't on the roster yet. Next year isn't the time to break in a new QB, especially with our first 5 games, and it's not like it gets easier after that. We should be an easy sell to some nice portal options. Still have Pena, Gill, LeQuint, Zeed coming back. That's a nice core to work with. Too bad Meeks didn't have another year.

Pretty sure there is a guy on the support staff whose primary responsibility is to scout programs for players who might portal. These speculation lists already exist elsewhere. Fran and staff will be prepared for possibilities - it won't be reactionary. Of course, there will be surprise entries. In any case, evaluating potential portal QBs is already happening. McCord's record setting season here will resonate with transfers. Fran will look to leverage that success if thinks the "right" guy is there. It is who he is.

And McCord calling it the best decision of his life just might be repeated to a potential portal qb

Maybe the McCord-Ewers connection can help us here..!? Ewers draft stock has plummeted and why would he put his future generational earnings in jeopardy and compete with a Manning? Even if I knew I was better I wouldnt bet my life on that...
If Kyle and Ewers have even a decent relationship im sure Kyle would share his opinion with Ewers.

Why would we not bring in a top QB via the portal every year? Every position is up for grabs and the best person wins it, including QB. Competition is great for every position, and also builds depth, which we have sorely lacked for years.

I am not sure bringing in a transfer every year is sustainable, but after this win, I think it would be foolish not to try and cash in on the momentum and try to land a top tier transfer QB. NIL will be more important but success two years in a row could carry you for 5+ years

He's 50-50 to get another year if he petitions.

I love today as his last game for us. Bowl game would have to be vs someone like USC or Michigan to be worth playing.

If he went to Bama or Georgia fair play.

I think letting major programs like Ohio State develop our starting QB for us definitely is sustainable and should be our model.
