I was at that game...and I missed the warm embrace at midfield after the game. that kid can throw the rock!! My concern: We bring in a portal QB with more that one year eligibility and we lose , Jahkari and the stud incoming recruit from Texas. We then put ourselves in the position to have to be looking for a portal QB every year. The one brown recruited at midfield?

Great point! Who wouldn't take another Kyle McCord????That's the risk with the portal.
But there's nothing that can be helped / done about it. You have to land the best players you can -- period. And we've seen first hand the impact of what bringing in a stud QB transfer can mean.
I really, really hope that either Williams or Carney are the future. They are both promising. But they both can't start. And either - or both - might not be ready next year anyway. QB recruits are a crapshoot, even amongst the most highly rated guys. I've brought this up a ton of times in the past, but my wife is an Ohio State grad, and even though they bring in 4- and 5-star QB recruits every year, the majority of them don't pan out and many transfer. And that's at a factory. There's even more risk with lower rated guys.
Please note, I'm not suggesting that Williams and Carney don't have the chops -- time will tell. But I'd much rather have a stud transfer who is a proven commodity to compete with them. And if one of them beats out the transfer -- what a great situation for us, long term.
But in the same way that it doesn't make a ton of sense to redshirt all true frosh like in the old days, due to the portal, I don't think it makes sense to not use the portal if you can land a stud QB.
He has game experience and is really young. I assume NC State boosters will want to go find a more “win-now” QB next year. With the tough schedule SU has next year, is it an opportunity to bring in a potential multi-year starter who can be sufficient in ‘25 but be a top-20 QB for 2026?Yeah for sure we will have a convo with Malik
Yup...high level 4 yr QBs at the same school will be like unicorns in the NIL worldAgreed. I can see it playing out one of three ways.
1. Williams is good enough to start, and builds upon this year's apprenticeship and takes the reins this offseason.
2. Incoming frosh Carney is so good, he leapfrogs Williams and uses spring practice to get ready to start next year.
3. Either / both of them need more time to develop, so we go "sell" an experienced QB on McCord's success.
I'm guessing #3 will be the option Fran and staff pursue.
Maybe Stonehouse can cut his 70s mustache off and lend it to him
