I have been looking at the roster and i really don't have a clue. So many options that seem similar from QB down the line.
Other than a few guys like Pena, Duce, Wolly, I don't know who starts. I guess at RB its Willis or Nixon if he is healthy.
OL open. DL has a lot of choices. LB is up for grabs. Same in the secondary. WR i would think JRS gets a start. What about Gill and the young studs. Who gets the Nod at TE. I guess Dan but what is Trembles role? Which Frosh crack the two deep other than the DB from Florida. Does the Hulk start, Make the two deep at LB?

Gill was a starter in the bowl game, not on the 2nd line. I am pretty sure he will be a starter next season. At least at the beginning.
who do you see starting at WR

who do you see starting at WR

I'm not Linda, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last nite, but I think an ez guess (assuming healthy) is:

WR1 - Pena
WR2 - Gill
WR3 - JRS

(Gill & JRS could flip spots)

Trebor is our top returning guy.
Gill 'flashed' at times, and came on strong late(r) in the season
JRS has pedigree from his prior experience, and seemingly can slot in for Meeks.

Either Tremble and/or Villari to (try to) replace OGII.

Everybody else is fighting it out for their spots on the 2-deep behind these guys, most likely.

Possibility some of the young RS-Frosh or true Frosh show out, and move up.

I actually did this the other day on my own. Some of it is based on speculation, some on things people have said here, and some based on performance in 2024.

? are, I'd assume, younger players who will emerge between now and Fall.

QB - Williams - Collins
RB - Willis - Nixon
WR - Pena, Gill, Ross-Simmons - C Long Hart, Haynes, Hatcher
TE - Villari OR Tremble - Clement OR Washington-Baker
OT - Weatherspoon + Wolhabaugh - Mack + E. Cruz
OG - J. Cruz + Petry - Bertrand - ?
C - Hornsby - ?

DT - Watson + Perry - Hastings + C. Thomas
DE - Jobity OR Jaquez OR Simmons
EDGE - David O. - KingJoseph - C. Brown
LB - Heard - Moultrie-Goddard
LB - McDonald - Deslauries
DB - Kerr (the returning one) - M. Washington OR McDaniels
DB - Martin - Perry OR Delaine
Rover - Grant - ?
S - Buxton - Long
S - Chestnut - ?

Thank you. Hart is a RB but other than that rock solid.

It's probably too soon but Washington-Baker has to be 6-7 maybe 6-8. He was on kickoffs and looked so dang tall. I think he's listed as a TE. Once he gets the the 240-250lb range I think he will be a monster. Probably 2026 for him but someone I will keep an eye on.

Here is my best guess at this point.

QB - Williams, Collins, Carney

I'm now guessing Williams beats out Collins, Staff must think they have something there to only bring in Collins so soon who seems more of a competition piece than an assumed starter. But really just an educated guess at this point.

RB - Willis OR Nixon, Hart
WR1 - Zeed Haynes, Hatcher OR Emmanuel Ross
WR2 - Gill OR JRS, Jaylan Hornsby
WR3 (Slot) - Pena, C Long OR Ja'Meer Thomas

At WR people seem to be forgetting about Zeed. Zeed Haynes is coming off injury but was our #1 WR before being injured in 2024. He starts, assuming he returns which i would guess he does.

TE - Tremble, Villari, Clement OR Washington-Baker

At TE I like Villari as an athlete but think he is not good enough at route running and catching to start as a TE. Tremble is TE1.

OT1 - Wohlabaugh, Mack
OT2 - Weatherspoon, E Cruz, Vito Shevchenko
OG1 - Bradford, Travis Brown Miller
OG2 - Petry, Joe Cruz,
C - Hornsby?, ?

DT1 - Dion "Tank" Wilson OR Watson, Elijah Fuentes-Cundiff
DT2 - Perry OR C. Thomas, Hastings
DE1 - Jobity, KJE
DE2 - Jaquez OR Simmons
EDGE - David O., Lesaine Jr

LB1 - Heard OR McDonald, Caden Brown
LB2 - ZMG, Deslauries

At LB I think Deslauries starts around mid season after getting some reps behind ZMG to start.
Don't know why we didn't see ZMG this year. He looked really good in the spring game. I think McDonald may share reps with somebody to start, probably Heard.

CB1 - Kerr, Delaine
CB2 - Ibn McDaniels, Kaylib Singleton, Martin
Star - Grant, Rayshon Andrews
S1 - Buxton OR Demetres Samuel Jr., Perry
S2 - Chestnut, M. Washington OR Long

At the DB spots I think we get quite a few on the 2 deep and get them some PT but none will be the starter at the beginning of the season.

Looking at that 2-deep there are huge holes at DE, LB, and safety. I don't understand how we haven't had interest from top portal prospects at those spots.

What about tank wilson?

I think that the following kids are going to end up being big contributors next year.

Martin at DB
Ross at WR
Edwards on the edge
and three newcomers Gillian at DE and Samuel in the secondary. Thomas up front,

Martin looked really good late in the season and in the bowl game. Optimistic there.

I thought Martin looked good against Washington St. Tough to really tell without the coach tape but he made a big play, was around the ball, and has plus size for the position. Him with Grant at STAR would give the back end size and potential play making ability. Grant has to be more consistent, but making big plays is a unique skill.

I don’t currently have much confidence on any of the LB’s are the roster. McDonald was a better fit for the 3-3-5. Will be interesting to see what we do there.

Tough to make predictions on true freshman before you see how they fit in and start hearing feedback from the staff so it’s tough to predict who, or if any will significantly contribute. I have high hopes for Singleton and Samuel, but we’ll have to see.

If we don’t upgrade the defense at all 3 levels we might not win 3 games.

Thanks, Buzz Killington!

that’s the spirit!!

I think like this year different WR will step up for different games. The room will be deep again. But what Gill did at the end of the season, gets him the start at the beginning of the year. I happen to know that he works hard, is humble, and earns what he gets. He worked with a private WR coach every day of his vacation in Dec. Jan.
