Basically every year we know there are a couple sure fire future pro's on the roster. Art Jones, Chan Jones, Justin Pugh, Ryan Nassib, Shamarko, Jay Bromley, and this year Sean Hickey, and Durrel Eskridge. Next season is the first one in a while where we can say so and so will definitely be drafted. So who has the best chance? Maybe Rob Trudo if he can figure out how to snap the ball out of shotgun? That's still a stretch though. Looking at the roster I really can't peg anyone as a future pro. Maybe Steve Ishmael if he continues to develop? I don't think it's a coincidence that our offensive struggles, and the lack of NFL talent at the skill position coincide.

Looking ahead, who on the 2015 Syracuse roster do you feel have the best chances to be a future pro?

Right now I really don't see any sure fire NFL talent. I think someone like Steve Ishmael has the chance to develop into a draft pick. For a sleeper i'd go with Isiah Johnson. I was high on him as a true Freshman, but he was a disappointment last year, mostly since he was forced to play out of position. If he is able to get snaps at DE, he has the size, and quickness to attract some attention.

There's no reason why Johnson cant grow into a great DT. The only thing stopping him would be his desires to stay outside. Just my 2 cents

I don't think he has much desire to play inside, even though I have a feeling he will be moved inside. Too bad because his performance at DE was far superior to how he played at DT.

Have to omit guys we haven't seen play yet but I would say Ron Thompson and Zaire Franklin on the defense for starters. I still think Whigham has potential as well as Morgan.

Offense? Trudo, Foy or Palmer maybe? We need one of the skill guys to show NFL potential in a bad way though, preferably multiple. Will be interested to see what we do with Enoicy and Custis.

Offense was so dismal (injuries, scheme, QB, etc) it's hard to see through the clutter. Could be we don't have any NFL talent on O - or it could be that talent hadn't developed due to those issues.

On D. I think Franklin, Wayne Williams (was coming on before he got hurt), Thompson.

I think Whigham's injury history is a serious red flag. I would have pegged Wayne Morgan a couple years ago, but not sure if I quite see it anymore

Right but I feel like either/both, with a solid year, will jump onto some radars. Both are extremely gifted athletes.

I think Broyld has a chance to catch on with a team. I don't think we use him properly at all and his measurables would leave some GM's/coaches thinking they can fix his problems.

Most of the guys that could potentially be NFL talents are so young right now that they either will be true Freshman this year or RF's that haven't played or played sparingly. That's a great thing for our depth but hard for projecting who could be a NFL talent. A big part of the problem I think we'll run into for next year and the following year's drafts come back to the 2013 recruiting year - that class was thrown all out of wack by Marrone leaving and the heavy JUCO depth emphasis Marrone placed on that class prior to leaving. I would be willing to bet that the 2014 and 2015 classes yield 6-8 NFL draft picks.

If Broyld has a good senior year and displays the ability to overcome some of the weaknesses that have plagued him, then I think he's got a great shot at being drafted. But as long as he's a great althlete and an up and down football player, he's going to have a hard time with it.

He's going to get invited to a post-season all-star game and the NFL staff is going to suggest he lines up at OLB for some drills. If he agrees, he'll get picked. If not, he'll be updating his passport.

TE could be an interesting position for Ashton. He would have to bulk up considerably, but the way the NFL uses TE's now a days it could be an option. Then again I couldn't really picture him blocking a DE.

LB would be ideal, but we all know how he doesn't want to play defense. Wonder if his mind would change if it meant NFL, or the real world?

Obviously the guys coming in this year, and a majority of last years class is still early to tell, but you knew very early in their careers that guys like Pugh, and Hickey would be future pro's. I think a majority of the guys can be crossed off the list just because they don't have the size, or speed for their positions. So out of the guys who have played, and judging by size and speed, i'd say guys like Ishamel, Franklin, Johnson, Thompson, Scissum, will have the ability to develop into pro's.

What I really want to see is a couple skill position guys develop into pro's. Just looking back the past decade you can count the number of guys on 1 hand. Mike Williams, Ryan Nassib. You can see why our offense has been terrible for seemingly ever.

I just don't see him having the instincts or aggressiveness for the position. TE would be interesting but again his hands are a liability, until that changes I just don't see it.

Of the upperclassmen, Ron Thompson and Trudo are probably the only two that are on NFL radars right now. Broyld is an athlete without a position, and reminds me a bit of JR Johnson. Freak athlete that isn't necessarily the best football player.

Of the younger guys, I'd keep and eye on Ishmael, Franklin, and as a sleeper I'm watching how Winfield progresses. He's a great athlete that is learning how to play corner. I love his potential.

Skill wise I'd say Delone Carter, Curtis Brinkley, Fiametta, Nassib, Mike Williams, Steve Gregory (defense in NFL), James Mungro, Jerome Smith, Shamarko (Defense), Richard Anderson (Defense), Tanard Jackson (Defense) .. Is there anyone else?

Non skill players.. Bromley, Pugh, Tiller, Freeney, Spruill, McClain, Chandler Joens, Art Jones

There is tape of him half-assedly running routes and alligator-arming passes that would scare off every NFL team. He would need a HUGE senior year.

if he stays healthy brisly estime,on defense a bounce back yr for rodney williams also marqez hodge will have a strong yr.

I think size will keep those 3 out of the NFL. They should have solid college careers, but there just isn't a position for them in the NFL.

My best guesses - Ron Thompson, Zaire Franklin, Steve Ishmael and maybe Rob Trudo.

If he could ever learn to catch the ball consistently, I still maintain that Ashton Broyld could have an NFL career as a TE/WR hybrid.
