I am surprised there hasn't been more stuff about the golf tourney yesterday - and I am horrible at recapping stuff.

But the 1st thing that should be way more public is Lally set up a challenge. He put down $1m to match NIL. Feldmeier then added $300k (they said $200k at first but after Frans speech $250k and then Lally challenge made it $300k) - couldn't really see the other people but there were 2-3ish more in the $50-200 range i think. 1 guy did 10 at the end, i think. Orange Crate owner is in for $10k for every win (Fran seemed to love this idea). Joe Burton and some of his crew had just left as they were trying to beat weather - but im sure they are adding to it. (But maybe spread the word on this challenge?)

Bellevue is a great course. I didnt realize it would be as nice as it was. A couple holes were a little quirky like the right angle dog leg right par 5 that was 440 yards but you were 240 out on 2nd shot.

Fran and Wildhack seem committed to winning a title. and wanting the money to do it. Both gave really good speeches. Love when Fran talks. multiple bombs every time he opened his mouth. But it just fits.

Fran made sure all the players there made their rounds, shook hands, introduced themselves and then he was placing them at tables to eat. We got to sit with Devin Grant for dinner who was awesome. Talked the whole time, asked us questions about investments and business etc... he raved about Demetrius Samuel at both WR and CB. and Samuel was cool to talk to. He liked my hat.

Thought it was interesting Angeli and Collins sat together the whole time and even Fran said something to the effect of NIL allowed us to land 2 of the best QB's in the portal.

I won straightest drive award.

I grabbed a helmet at the end and Fran signed it and he made me promise to donate so I made sure to do it this AM.

Great recap!

Also 32 foursomes in the PM shotgun. I think I heard 17 in the AM shotgun.

Assuming that's by choice, it's a great sign if these two are supportive of one another. Obviously one of them will be disappointed at the beginning of the year. But as we all know, a Syracuse QB starting all 12 games without getting injured is a rarity in recent years.

And Notre Dame might not have beaten Penn State if Angelli himself doesn't take them down the field for the FG before the half when Leonard was shaken up.

Appreciate the generosity and support!

I do have a logistics question though. With $2M donation, and all deals outside the University with student-athletes having to go through a clearinghouse with Deloitte, how does this make an impact directly to NIL? With the $20.5M cap, and SU already stating we will share up to the max, is the $2M a replenishment of funds or are they hoping to sneak through $2M of deals before they start tracking July 1?

The 20.5 million cap is only through money paid by the universities directly.

You can still have collectives giving $$$ to student athletes. However, the deals now have to be cleared and make sure they are legit and use them in branding etc. It cant just be money to make them come to the university.

I understand all of that, but the clearinghouse will have a Fair Market Value function.

Unless it's a Fortune 500 company, all of those contracts that are over $600 (that's six hundred) must be submitted to College Sports Commission. And, in theory, would eliminate the collective deals that have been in place whereas they pay 6-7 figures for basically nothing.

It is one of the reasons you have seen many collectives from around the country fold up shop. It is going to be very difficult, if the mechanism works the proper way, to get the money from collectives directly to student-athletes.

I'm not super confident

The usual characters will cheat

I want to be one of those usual characters.

If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'.

That said, if you play by the book and the rules, collectives given the new red tape are going out of business.

If that was the case, SU Football NIL wouldnt have just had a golf tournament that raised 2 mill in about 15 mins.

The collectives will still be very much active and very much giving out deals in excess to the $$ that is being used.

Remember the 20.5 million "cap" is for ALL sports including football, basketball, softball, lacrosse, track and field etc etc etc.

Damn, I didn't realize the silent auction was already over. I would have bid on that XL apparel auction.

Right but why do you think the push has been so intense to bring on local companies such as Meiers Creek.

Making them do appearances, commercials etc all qualifies for payment.
