Yeah. It’s easy when one is gone to simply say “at that time they were both returning”. No chance EROB can be back with the 4th worst defense in America. I can’t imagine that.Didn't listen to it but that sentances doesn't necessarily mean they would surely both be back as coordinators. Nixon almost surely will if he stays, but not sure on Robinson.
Setting aside Tennessee... the defense kept us in the game for every first half. In contrast, the offense was a no show against every team in the first half except Clemson and Colgate.Yeah. You make such a great point. But there is no reason to keep it to just college teams. There are plenty of NFL teams that need a D coordinator.EROB is a GREAT defensive coordinator. Any school looking for a head coach or D coordinator should read this and give the guy a shot. The best I’ve seen. Take my word for it. It would be a disservice for college football if EROB is not the head coach somewhere next year like Penn State

are you able to see splits on this? First half vs. second half? I'm curious how we even do by quarter. Eye test says D has been winded and gets worse as game goes on but really not sure.I hadn't looked in awhile and I was curious about how bad we truly are.
Rushing D YPC vs FBS we are 15th in the ACC (BC is last). Nationally we are tied for 107th. Guess who is last place? Rutgers who is giving up 6.73 YPC (and they played MAC teams OOC). Next to last is Air Force and they give up 5.79 ypc almost a whole yard better. Rutgers is the worst run D in that last 7 years, and only 4 others are worse in the last 10 years (as far as I could go back). And they still have Ohio State and Penn State coming up. So it could get worse! BTW UConn was the worst in the last 10 years.
For QB Rating D in FBS games we are 16th in the ACC. But again BC is the worst. So at the very least they have a worse D than us. Nationally we are 124th (even worse than vs the run). Give our CBs this was a surprise. Rutgers is 130th so I would say they may very well be the worst D in all of college football.

Robinson’s whole thing is that he’s an ace recruiter. That’s the entirety of his qualifications. If he can’t load up the D with talent then what are we even doing?Really need to watch more than look at stats.
You can call the right D and a guy mis fills a gap or misses a tackle thats not all about the DC.
We have no play making DL. That limits big plays on D to help setup the 2-3 plays.
If we are going to play every year with below avg play on the DL there is only one choice to play down hill and isolate the Corners and thats a recipe for disaster.
Look at the Miami game. Really one bad play on D in the whole half and that flips they game to 7-0 then the pick 6 and the D is chasing the whole rest of the night after a solid 90% of a first half.
Much the same on offense. We call the perfect play vs the D and the oline cant block at all and the plays blow up.
If we can just get to avg on both lines then the OC/DC have more chances to succeed.
yup. but are we? I think the level of the on the DB side is much better. Lets see how the young DL turnout then we can decide if recruiting is working out.Robinson’s whole thing is that he’s an ace recruiter. That’s the entirety of his qualifications. Super helpful thank you. It's totally different than what I would have thought from the eye test (besides second quarter sucking, which i kind of expected). Not by FBS only, but overall yes.

The 2nd Q for both Run and Pass has been god awful.
Edit
I don't see TOP by Q but overall we are at 29:05:40 per game. Not really a tired excuse IMO. It is better than 2023, 2022, and less than 10 secs off of 2021 when we ran the ball every play. The only season in the last 10 that was significantly better was last year.
Definitely a great idea.Hopefully they hire at least two former coordinators to help get some experience on staff.
Retaining Don Brown as well would be nice.
To piggyback that, it isn't much different than the lean years when our offense sucked. Kept going 3 and out and the D was on the field all the time with no rest and no depth. Our D has looked perfectly adequate at times this year but eventually they get run down. If the offense is scoring, the games are tighter and the defense is more rested and locked in. Quite tough to get up mentally when you are down by 20+ points with no hope.I have said this a lot but we have improved and if we have a few drives workout we aren’t playing catchup. I still say with angelli we become a 10-2 team and our defense would top half in acc. We get a solid few dline guys, a safety to replace Duece that’s an upgrade, and a oline coach who can teach lineman to get off the ball and attack on run plays. Oh yeah and upgrade at backup just in case something happens again.
