Late 60s/Early 70s or dead...Wouldn’t the 85 Bears be in their 60s now?
Wouldn’t the 85 Bears be in their 60s now?
There's a mini Ditkas joke in here.Wouldn’t the 85 Bears be in their 60s now?
"after much deliberation"I would also like to annouce I shall return for 2026!!
Thank you there will be no follow up question.
Really need to watch more than look at stats.
You can call the right D and a guy mis fills a gap or misses a tackle thats not all about the DC.
We have no play making DL. That limits big plays on D to help setup the 2-3 plays.
If we are going to play every year with below avg play on the DL there is only one choice to play down hill and isolate the Corners and thats a recipe for disaster.
Look at the Miami game. Really one bad play on D in the whole half and that flips they game to 7-0 then the pick 6 and the D is chasing the whole rest of the night after a solid 90% of a first half.
Much the same on offense. We call the perfect play vs the D and the oline cant block at all and the plays blow up.
If we can just get to avg on both lines then the OC/DC have more chances to succeed.
ND's rush offense could put up 350+ on Saturday and the defense will drift even closer to being the worse in the country - currently 123rd out of 134 in total defense nationally, allowing 430yards/game.Super helpful thank you. It's totally different than what I would have thought from the eye test (besides second quarter sucking, which i kind of expected).
Same take here. Finally listened and I put zero stock in that.I don't put much stock in that answer. Fran hates that question and usually says something like, "Come on, man. These guys have families. Why would you ask that?" It looked like he didn't have the energy to coach-speak that or has learned not to even entertain the question.
The DC is responsible for teaching and then demanding gap discipline, they’re responsible for Recruting the right talent on the D line and for calling a defense that plays to their strengths.Really need to watch more than look at stats.

Don't they have that now with D Brown and J Gattis?Hopefully they hire at least two former coordinators to help get some experience on staff.
Retaining Don Brown as well would be nice.
We get to a lot of gaps... and whiff. Sparrow is notorious for this. One of our quickest LBs but doesn't know what to do when he gets there. Most other LBs with non Canadian dinosaur names simply don't get there. Tremble needs to play more snaps with Deslauriers... this is our futureThe DC is responsible for teaching and then demanding gap discipline, they’re responsible for Recruting the right talent on the D line and for calling a defense that plays to their strengths.
I agree 100%, I just cant see giving ERob a pass on the above issues because it would seem to call into question the point of having coaches at all.We get to a lot of gaps... and whiff. Sorry meant specifically as much defensive help as possible.Don't they have that now with D Brown and J Gattis?
Better to be Wright than WrongMust be nice to be Robert Wright.
He is the most teflon guy on the staff.
Well you know what they say, two Wrongs don't make a Wright.Better to be Wright than Wrong
I 1000 percent agree except firing part. U have never made a mistake that was a big one at work ever and lived thru it to learn to never do it again. I sure have. We were learning on the fly with these guys and we knew it hiring them. That play still pisses me off. I was screaming at the tv and he didn’t hear me but to be fired is rough. All he needs is to listen to Don Brown as much as possible. We need to lock that guy down. We blitz better and with different techniques. We zone blitz and our dline are actually using moves to get thru now.He made one of the most idiotic calls against Stanford last year that I've ever seen. That alone should have gotten him fired.
I really tried hard with Derek cause he was always bye the football he just doesn’t know how to get off blocks well. He tries inside tie but doesn’t punch quick and get out so they swallow him up and twist him. Dan Conley would say control oline guy and get him off u while remaining in your gap or dip and rip thru inside hip of oline. Multiple ways but Derek isnt good at them or isn’t taught how to get off themExactly this. Our defense isn't that bad aside from the tackling of our safeties and how physically outmatched our LBs that aren't Canadian freak shows are. It is interesting how many people openly shat all over Derek but are crickets over club foot Bryant. Neither have the lateral mobility to get sideline to sideline and with whiff Chestnut on the run fit behind them it's a nasty recipe. I do however think DMC or Gary can play mlb in a 3 LB set however with Tremble and Deslasuarus Rex on either side of them.

I do agree with this. He is good downhill just gotta improve tech. Love the kid and supposedly is a good leader. Don’t wanna lose himCurious if we use him as stand up edge rusher and/or on blitzes next season. If we can get him running downhill. Ala Conley I feel bad that Derek's body has fallen apart, he seems like a good kid and at least puts forth max effort.
