No More Collins

Never seen a QB miss absolutely wide open receivers this badly. His mechanics are beyond atrocious. That long completion to a completely uncovered Cook was underthrown by at LEAST 30 yards. Insane.

What’s hilarious is that some posters were ripping on Pena for leaving because “he should have stuck around to try to make Collins better”.

He’s missing wide open guys constantly. How the hell is a WR going to “make the QB better” when that guy simply cannot pass? The QB still has to throw the ball, and Collins can’t except for random lucky miracles once in a great while.

If this is all we had, I’m going to be glad the entire team didn’t just tap out and hit the transfer portal instead of being upset at the guy who did. If Collins started the year, we’d be looking at an o-fer season. I suspect everyone on the team knew that well before we did.

I just think Fran will continue to play Ricky the rest of the season. Imagine if he makes the change after unc and we become even remotely competitive against nd and miami. The fans will go crazy for not making a change sooner. It’s not like Fran would be able to now claim the backup learned the playbook in a week.

It really can’t get any worse. Rickie is not the answer so let’s see what we have behind him…

But somehow our 3 star freshman QB with offers from 8 other P4 schools apparently only knows how to hand the ball off and can’t handle anything beyond that. Too complex.

Not to defend anything, but Mestemaker was always a good QB, he just got stuck behind a better/ higher rated one in HS and decided to play Safety instead of transferring to a different HS. I didn't think he'd be this good, but he's also not a normal 0 star walk on

So coach ego > winning

He was bad in the first half. He was serviceable in the 2nd half. His best attribute is his running ability. His passes were all over the place, but he didn't make many bad decisions for once.
I’ll admit I watched it very sporadically, and I’m not bothering to watch a replay but I think he’s a poor runner from what I saw.

I think it’s 2015 this year: we lose every game after a good start, then in the last game at 3-8 against BC we eke out that 4th win. Except Fran isn’t being carried off the field by the players like lame duck Cigar Boy was
Walkon QB Clayton Welch won that game. By game 12, Collins may not be the QB.

Is Williams hurt?

Is not burning a year of eligibility a reason not to play Carney? I'm old school, so I like saving eligibility, but with the transfer portal does it really matter?

'old school' played today means a promising player will transfer out 'ASAP'

Listen, say what you will about Collins, but he doesn't score points, turns it over like it's his job, and doesn't actually come alive until games are out of reach, so coach scissor cut hoodie better be prepared.
Our D is now playing better than it has in many years. Mack Brown had much more talent on D for 5 consecutive years than this team has but never had a D perform like we are now seeing. And the main man for that is Bob Diaco. The DL is simply kicking ass and taking names. And that sets the standard. WE also are seeing other guys on D performing well, but it is the DL that is controlling the LOS and making everything good for UNC happen.

Morris and UVA survived 6 sacks and won by 1. Collins is total crap compared to Morris. You can bet that the UNC D thinks it can win the game.

Without seeing Wisconsin play at all, I doubt that. Rickie is the worst su qb I’ve ever seen… but maybe
Wisconsin lost their starting qb in the first game of the season for the 2nd year in a row. The difference is, Fickell is playing every backup, trying to find a solution. I don't know if Rickie is the worst I've ever seen. Even at Syracuse. Cam Dantley comes to mind. He was something like 4-22 in a game. That was the worst single game performance I think I've seen for a Cuse qb.

There's a pretty good chance the Syracuse offense thinks the UNV D can win the game too.

Dantley beat ND at ND

Whose bright idea was it to play on Halloween at night? Anyone with young kids will not be in attendance. Just plain stupid. Doesn’t really matter though because the way the season is going they probably wouldn’t come anyways.
It’s a tv show

For purposes of not starting Carney?

The Office Yes GIF
Unfortunately that is just another excuse for Fran to use for Rickie starting and playing the entire game. Then the next 2 weeks will be, we didn't want to make a change in a road hostile environment.
