no talk about half time or the commercials

dont think thats ever happened on this board.

interesting looking at various lists being put out. the fiat commercial is getting ripped as worst and loved as best .

my only take from the the halftime show is too bad SU doesnt jump on board and get someone to sponsor a show using the cool 3d computer stuff on the dome floor..
Thought the commercials I saw, which was not all of thee, were a bunch of retreaded, uninspired waste of time.

To me, the best thing about the game was 'Left Shark'.

Linkage

I forget who sponsored it but the one where they had Washington changing his mind halfway across the Delaware and another scene where they made a joke out of a British redcoat getting gut bayoneted was in extremely poor taste and an insult to our hard-won independence.

Maybe I subconciously deleted the sponsor in my disgust, or maybe I'm just getting senile (which is the more likely of the two :D).

It was TurboTax.

One problem is that in the past few years, nearly all of the commercials leak (are previewed) online in the days leading up to the game, to try to make sure you are looking for that commercial (example this year of the claim that the puppy video was pulled, but then it appeared - miraculously - without the ending that they sell the dog). So that takes most of the juice out of those conversations.

As for the halftime show, I don't think Katy Perry is the target demographic of most of this board unless we were talking about pictures of her in a bathsuit. Her music is what it is. The NFL definitely went after keeping the women involved in the game - and the game itself did a pretty good job of keeping the fans involved, after a very dull first 2o minutes or so.

Can someone explain the race car driver commercial to me? Just didn't get it at all.

He was too busy being a famous race car driver to be a good dad, but really he loved his kid and gave it up in the end (after getting into a wreck) to be with his family. Harry Chapin Cats in the Cradle, but with a happy ending.

I wonder if Nissan realized that Harry Chapin was killed in an auto accident?

dont think ive ever watched a halftime show - its the time to pee and eat

Ever? I mean, they've had the Rolling Stones, the Who, Springsteen, Tom Petty. If you like rock and roll, they've had some very solid acts these past several years.

The halftime is less about the musical performer, and more about the presentation of the show. They should just have Riverdance next year.
Get like Blue Man group or Cirque du Soleil or something

Turbo Tax is awesome. If you just have a W-2 to worry about it really is the best and cheap.

I didn't realize the Revolution was an untouchable subject.

Now you know.

I liked the Turbo Tax (and I teach 8th grade Civics). My favorite was the Brady Bunch one, even though I saw it a couple of days earlier. The Pete Rose one made me laugh, even though that's been out for awhile. I love Liam Neason in anything, and my son who plays CoC loved it too. The Harry Chapin one disturbed me as was previously mentioned that he died in a car crash.

I saw it as a guy who's a crappy dad and didn't bother with his son until he finally won the big race. Only then was he willing to bother with his son, who was like 16 by then.

Interpretation:
Too little too late and winning is more important than family.

That's why I didn't get it at all.

Yeah, I agree with what you said. In the song, the dad never learns and he creates a kid who won't give him the time of day in his old age, when he now "has the time" for his son who he ignored for all those years.
