Anyone notice how often he says, "oh, I don't know anything about that", "I haven't been paying much attention to that", or "I don't know, I'll check up on that"?

Is he really that out of the loop on things or does he know and can't say?

You'd think he would have some sort of recruit info, even from the local kids, but he has nothing.

Any interesting question he is asked he has no clue about an answer. Is it me or is it surprising he sounds so left in the dark?

No. I have noticed it myself during his live chats. It gets frustrating.

My guess is he is out of the loop. How does a beat writer not know anything about the teams he is covering?

He should be a step ahead of us, instead he is like a step behind. We get more info here then in his chats.

I'm more surprised by the quality of his writing.

Easily a third of the posters here have better spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax than Nolan. But these posters are pecking out posts on a message board, while he is ostensibly paid to take his time to write, proofread his own work, and then pass it through to an editor.

Were it not for Rahme, I wouldn't read any of the Post-Standard's football coverage.
