Spots were awful all game long -- Clemson players would get a full half yard extra every time they went down. Not to mention Riley was held on the lofted ball over the middle and the unnecessary roughness penalty that drove the final nail into the coffin.

Probably doesn't make much difference in this game at the end, but we will never get any benefit of the doubt in the ACC.

Don't be like this. Officiating was bad but it was for both teams. What about when #3 for Clemson got held and interfered with in the end zone and it wasn't called? It happens man.

The Clemson player there had more than a handful of Frederick's jersey too. Thought it was a good non-call.

It was tough to tell from my vantage point so I'll take your word on that one.

They were both tugging at each other.

Not just this game - seems like every game we play down south we get jobbed. Need to win by double digits in order to actually get the win. Listen, Clemson won the game - their D did a phenomenal job and Syracuse couldn't stop Etienne - but I'm sick of watching every ACC officiating crew give the blue bloods the majority of the 50-50's.

We got some calls but the holding was in the hands of the beholder- when you have a national rep as being one of the best defense of teams I think you get your share of breaks. Penalty but it was the right call on the Syracuse offense Ol wasthegame

Spot on. Actually thought for being on the road and the refs trying to protect the ONLY ACC chance for a playoff team; the game was well officiated and we actually got some borderline calls

Couple spots seemed to not be in our favor but we’re still close enough that it could have been the TV angle. There was a hit on Clemson QB before the one that took him out of the game. It wasn’t late but also wouldn’t have been a surprise if most refs throw a flag. Refs were fine, sour grapes. Had zero bearing on the outcome of the game. Clemson fans thought refs were siding with us in the first half, you could tell from every call and no-call.

The flag on Roberts at the end - was it unnecessary roughness? Had me scratching my head. Beyond that I thought it was a fairly typical game referee wise.

Not the difference in the game but this was like 45 yards (+30 Clemson -15 Syracuse). I am obviously a neuortic partisan so I had my son follow it, he learned quite a bit about injustice in the world today (left foot vs right foot).

But the refs were fine within the context that there SHOULD NOT be Conference-owned referees these days, ridiculous concept.

That one confused me. I'm still not sure what that was about. What did it look like on tv?

There is no possible explanation, to be honest. We figured we had to win by two TDs to win, that makes sense so no sour grapes and that call didn't do it.

They showed a replay, didn’t see anything besides regular pass blocking. Even Blackledge said it was a dubious call. Didn’t change the outcome one bit

Wouldn't be syracusefan..com if people weren't complaining about the refs. Yes they missed some calls but both ways.

As a casual fan (that doesn't watch a ton of college games), the one thing that really stuck out to me was how god-awful they were on spotting the ball. At times I couldn't even figure it out - I noticed it both ways though.

The funniest one I saw went against us. The Clemson dude goes down with the ball hitting at like the 32.5, and I mean the ball hit squarely on the ground as the player went down with two officials right there watching. He then bounces like another 1 or 1.5 yards with a slight crawl, and they just spotted it for a first down at the end of the crawl point.

I've noticed a bad spot or two in my life, but nothing like this game. Perhaps this is every game in college football though. Or maybe you get the spot at whatever point you crawl to????? That seems like a weird rule though. j/k :)

The refs were 10 times better than the AAC crew at the UConn game. Those guys were overturned, like, 20 times.

I agree with the examples you cited. The bad spots were obvious. I’m jot sure how anyone can argue with that. However, I like the fact that they seemed to let the receivers/dbs play, especially after some of the weak calls we’ve gotten this year particualarly the UConn game of non stop whistles. I’m not sure if that benefited us or not.

The unnecessary roughness...I don’t know. Didn’t look like much. Shouldn’t it have been a no call? Or maybe illegal use of theands. Again, maybe I don’t understand the rules.

Refs were fine. If there is a tie goes to the runner situation we knew that we’d be in the south in a southern conf. WE knew this in 2011 when we agreed to join the good ole boys.
