i believe the coaches tried to get this team up for this game. i also believe that this team believes that they are better than they really are and took a w for granted. the minny game will make or break this season. i liked the team in both the losses, i did not like what i saw yesterday---however i liked the fans less.

Hear, hear on the "like the fans less" part. I don't read other forum closely enough to be able to say whether this kind of behavior is typical.

Reading the game thread and the other negative threads on the board makes one wonder what makes these people fans and what it would take to satisfy them. There appears to be little they like and any slip calls for "Fire the Coach" or bench this player or that one.

I don't mind people who support the program bitching..it's those that don't and whine about everything who are frontrunners and the biggest part of the problem. The casual fan will comeback with wins.. The curmudgeon may dig in their heels for longer than that... Which is sad as they are always there after a bad game to remind you that gross or Marrone has failed them terribly. Win, attract a new fan base and leave the curdmudgeons behind

One of the players (might of been Broyld) actually said in the post game press that they were the best 0-2 team in the country heading into the game and now they are the best 1-2 team in the country. The players actually bought into that nonsense

Great post.

That's a good thing. These kids need to believe they can win football games. Especially coming off of what, 7 losses?

If I lived in CNY I would be at every game but as I live 700 miles away I can't. I will schlep 13 hours to the UCONN game this year and next year will go to any Atlantic Division game at NCS or WF. While I reserve my right to complain, I recognize that there has to be some contructive element to it or else I would just b e advocating shooting ourselves in the foot.

Marrone has done yeoman service in bringing a dead program back to life. Some will argue that it has taken too long but I think that argument fails to recognize the depth of our demise.

The wins have not come yet and our conference record is lousy. Yes, we never dominate lesser rivals and no game ever seems to be over early. But DM has done the important work of rebuilding our recruiting effort. We have not yet seen the full results of this effort as Raymon is still without waiver, Funderburk has to wait until next year and Sugar Bear is injured.

So, I will continue to be very hopeful and will continue to scream at the TV in the full and certain knowledge that this program is back from the dead and is getting better. I shall not dwell on the speed at which it improves.

The best advice for fans may be that which I received from a friend when my first daughter was getting married: Shut up, show up and pay up! (Shutting up will be the difficult one.)

The post is more reasonable than the title.

There is nothing wrong with believing you are better than your record, it's called building confidence, and that is one of the theme's Marrone has been focused on through the first two weeks. The last thing he wanted to do was start having negativity and finger pointing rise up like it did last year.

I don't for a second believe they took anything for granted however. Based on what Shafer and Hackett said SB crossed them up early. Add in two long TD's and it made for a much closer game on the scoreboard than it was on the field. Almost 1/2 their offense came on two plays and for the first time in how many years a team backed off and were dedicated to taking away the intermediate and deep pass. It looked like they were playing 4 deep zone a lot with a CB playing man to the wide side.

Once they adjusted on both sides, Shafer needed to play HS defense against a HS offense, they dominated.
