Not to get too crazy or ahead of myself (ourselves?)

6-2, and need to win three ACCT games to have a chance I feel. I think we can beat any of the last four, or lose all four.

Optimistic me

7-1 finish and win two ACCT games.

9-2 finish and go 21-13, left out on Selection Sunday.

Pitt loss being the ultimate killer.

Yup. We are 12-11 with several bad losses. Beating the bottom of the ACC isn’t helping us much. It is what it is. Any more than 2 losses the rest of the way and we’re toast.

Yup. We have 5 Quad 3 losses. Last year we had 1 or 2.

We need all 4 or 5 Quad 1 wins we have a chance at left plus to not slip with another q3 loss.

Some just don't realize how poor our numbers are. We beat Indiana. After that it's FSU on the road who is no longer a q1 and then we have wake at home - but that is only q2.

Exactly. I'm not sure how many people realize how bad some of those losses are turning out to be unfortunately. We have some work to do.

That gets the Orange to their (sadly) now reserved spot on the bubble.
They would have a shot.

A consideration regarding the current win-streak and CUSE's better play offensively...
NC ST. is # 311 pts allowed...
L'ville is #207 pts allowed
Wake is #177 pts allowed

VaTech, ND, Duke, BC , I believe are all in the top 100 in pts allowed.
CUSE is at 310.

Tough sledding ahead.

We outscore teams, that's the identity.

All I want is a season above .500 and maybe one more signature win to feel good about. The tournament is pie in the sky, not impossible but I think those that are getting their hopes up will almost certainly have them dashed. This team will live and die by their shooting and that is a recipe for unpredictable results.

Easy to do when the other team doesn't play D
The offense just came into full operation in the last 3 games as Cole has hit his stride and Joe and Jesse have mastered the pick option play.

Not every team we’ve played fits the description of doesn’t play defense. For the season we are 3rd in the ACC in scoring and top 20 nationally in offensive efficiently.

And rising fast.

I guess we all interpret things depending upon what we are attempting to argue. In your case, mentioning the stat you gave after your "not every team we've played fits the description of doesn't play defense."

I interpreted his post differently than you. I don't think he was saying that, but rather pointing out that in this 3 game winning streak, where our offense has thrived and has had its best output to date, happens to coincide with 3 teams that simply aren't that good on defense. Actually, they are not that good period, as two of those teams are having bad seasons and are not currently even mentioned to be in the NIT tournament.

Yes, it will be tough sledding ahead. But Points Allowed doesn’t take into account pace of play. Which is why you need to look at KenPom and other metrics that factor in pace of play and SOS to get a true picture. Wake is actually ranked 51st in defensive efficiency. Va Tech is only 110 (but their offense is very good like ours, 17th). ND is 66th in defensive efficiency (strangely for ND, their offense is only 72nd). BC is 155th in defensive efficiency, which is bad but not as bad as our 237th rated defense! Duke is top 20 in both offensive and defensive efficiency.

I know some people want to say our offense has only been elite or great or whatever lately, but it’s been like that for most of the year. We’ve been near the top all year. It’s all relative.

Yes, I agree, it's all relative, as prior to this 3 game W streak, we were 3-6 in conference and 9-11 overall.

How soft is the bubble this year? We have a path to the dance….obviously. I for one think we dance baby!

I count 50 spots pretty much locked up. That's counting 4 or 5 for the ACC that SU could still get if they continue winning. So, that leaves 16 spots up for grabs. The teams the Orange are vying for those 16 spots have plenty of blemishes on their resumes as well.

There are plenty of reasonable complaints about us playing guys who only offer something on offense and little to nothing on defense, but to act like the O in general is a problem this year is misguided. Our first four problems are defense defense defense and defense. Our O is only a problem in that we play too many guys who are only good at offense.

once we play a team again that plays pressure D that requires someone to get past his man, you might see the issue on offense again.

THAT SAID...Joe possibly turned a corner on that front. We’ll see how it goes.

LOL. Mostly because of defense. You know what the even better offensive showing has done? Allowed us to beat Wake and Lville by 20 points. We don't have to win by 20 to win.

Joe has been both handling better and looking to pass more. We have seen a little more mojo from range, albeit inconsistently, from Buddy and Swider. Jesse is the best big man on O we have had in an eternity. I like where we stand on offense.
