Notre Dame looking to pull out of SU game

I already know exactly how the game will go. The first half of the first quarter will look promising. We'll get an early flukey turnover or something that makes us feel good. But somehow we will still end up losing 45-3.
I think it is fairly likely that we will not get an offensive TD in the first half on a drive that goes more than 20 yards.

I think we should respond by canceling our 2025 game in South Bend.

Chip, Chip, everything is negotiable.

For starters… OK Notre Dame, you can pull out of 2026 but in return this year’s game will have the following features:

1) Notre Dame will have to use their own lacrosse player at QB. Or someone from the Equestrian Team. But not a horse.

2) SU is allowed to use a QB of our own choosing from the Philadelphia Eagles bench. We will compromise and say his first name can contain only four letters. All right, you twisted my arm, his last name also has to contain consecutive letter C’s. You drive a hard bargain, Notre Dame but somehow we will have to live with it.

3) The Irish defensive line can only be comprised of Notre Dame women’s basketball players.

This last one is a risk because I THINK we can block them, but I’m not 100% sure.

45-10. We score on a scoop and score early ala UNC but Rickie throws 2 pick 6s and drops another fumble into our own redzone for a 3rd td that isn't on the defense in the slightest

This is all that's out there...

Irish Illustrated Podcast: (16:43 mark)

I am sure ND would like to get out of the Syracuse game.

There is no question they would like to have another home game. They are short one for 2026.

The reason is because the ND AD office made a horrible gaffe planning future football schedules years ago and thought the 2026 game with Syracuse was in South Bend.

It never was and now that they have finally realized this, they are scrambling to find a way to get another home game.

These ND fanboys think ND can just cancel an ACC road game. They cannot. They signed a contract to play 5 ACC games every season.

Now if they were able to get their home game against Stanford to count as an ACC game, this might be possible but even they are acknowledging that is not going to happen.

We are already selling season tickets for football for next season and one of the highlights is the ND game. If they wanted to do something, it needed to be done far earlier.

I think the only way this might happen is if ND gives Syracuse an enormous payoff. Think something in the $10 million range.

ND wants another home game so they can make more money. If they have to make a huge buyout payoff it will all be for nought.

wonder if we published the schedule and sent out renewals with this in mind. gives us more leverage if they try to buy us out.

Is this all it's about for ND, money, money, money, ND's interests above all others, perpetual home games? They signed a contract. Others are relying on it. It's the 11th hour - next year's schedules are already out. What happened to honoring your word and common courtesy, let alone the vows of the Congregation of the Holy Cross ("Chastity, poverty and obedience")?
