Notre Dame Post Mortem Thread...

I don’t believe in karma… but if I did, I’d say that Fran got some cosmic blowback for having his team run sprints after UConn. That was such a “look at me!” marketing moment and I don’t think the football Gods appreciated it. Clearly they cursed Angeli and his awful staff for the slight.

But I don’t believe in karma.

I think this effort today is on Fran. He sent out 4 freshman as game captains vs Miami. I can see why he may have done it but I think he signaled to the team that this season is done and he is building for the future. T

Yeah, honestly, I have been a bit annoyed that he has been talking about next year for a few weeks now. To me, that doesn't send a good message to the seniors while doing that in-season. If I were a season ticket holder who had paid good money for THIS year, I can't say I would be thrilled with that attitude either.

It's one thing for him to think that had have that mindset, but I think you can go a bit overboard by being too public with it.

For a guy who cares A LOT about his public perception, Fran has been just awful in front of the mic the past 6 weeks.

He’s reeling and it’s very ugly. Not much grace under pressure.

I can see why he may have done it but I think he signaled to the team that this season is done and he is building for the future. This loss was so much more than a talent differential. The players effort was lacking in all phases. We were down 21-0 before ND even went on offense and 42-0 16 minutes into the game. SU was COMPLETELY unprepared to play today and Fran owns that. The question is will he learn from it.
I am 100% with you. Total mishandle. Brown did not have this team even clsoe to prepared today in every aspect of the game.

Blown away that it was this bad, which transcended any Xs and Os.

Were the ND fans sympathetic to you?
Their fans were split between being overjoyed with the score and not rubbing it in to our fans. Those all around me were nice, friendly and polite. A lot of pretty nice people.
I think if we picked a temporary head coach, defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator out of the stands it would have been a closer game

The opening kickoff return was great. So we got that going for us. ;)

Bought tickets to this game in the offseason because I thought it would be fun to see an Angeli return game.

That was the most embarrassed I have ever been inside a stadium.

The conversation around us was how ND needs to stop playing ACC teams and how the top 20 schools need to break away from bottom feeders like us.
Ouch. Been there. Was at the Miami 59-0 game but this felt worse.

Ones near me were being a little annoying wanting ND to run it up even more and to keep it a shutout. Overall everyone very friendly and hospitable though

Since Clemson we’ve been beaten 7 straight times by an average of 39 to 11.

In 2008, the swan song of the disastrous Robinson era, we were outscored for the season by average of 33 to 18.

Fran is overseeing a historically atrocious stretch of SU football.

This staff should be running sprints until they collapse.

Fran just keeps throwing darts (DARTs?) at the board and hoping something will stick.

We have a major line of scrimmage problem on both sides. I can't imagine there's enough money lying around to fix it, but hopefully. It won't be fixed by the freshmen turning into sophomores.

Yep. This O line is built for pass protection, not the running game,

Now, you might say that a good line, and a good line coach, should be able to do both with the personnel.

We've had some outstanding line coaches in the 60 years that I've been a fan. But it's been a while.
They're built for pass protection? Then why aren't they any good at it? Our QBs have been under instant pressure all the time.

Can someone explain to me why Nixon was calling in plays with a walkie-talkie as opposed to a headset like every other offensive coordinator I have ever seen......or was he ordering wings
