Notre Dame vs The World

They do not want to jettison their own 'under-performing schools.' They want to destroy all other leagues that can be destroyed as competitors, while also praising themselves for their generosity in saving the likes of Northwestern and Rutgers.
So a PE backed league will just for the sake of generosity, keep dregs like Rutgers?

Pete Bevacqua on whether the relationship with the ACC can be healed: "All things can be healed. I'm not going to be overly dramatic here. But it strained the relationship."

One good thing about ND press conferences is that unlike SU, you can actually hear the members of the media's questions.

Well this was a stupid time for a press conference. He can't really say anything, especially about the ACC. If they are planning on leaving the ACC, there is no way they have discussed buyout and logistics yet, and there is no way they have found a landing spot for their Olympic sports yet and worked out those details, as it has been 3 days. That stuff will take time if that is the plan for ND, but for Football ND will need some sort of agreement with the P4 conferences. If all the P4 conferences go to more conference games versus fewer out-of-conference games, there will be fewer opportunities for ND to schedule P4 games, especially later in the season.

Right and no other P4 conference is taking their non-rev sports. They just want to whine and show their donors they're doing something even though they are unlikely to do anything. They already solved for this problem with the MOU they negotiated for next year with the CFP and beyond.

I think Miami belonged in over ND, but why did JMU get in over them?
Probably answered already, but JMU got in because the CFP agreement is the 5 highest ranked conference champions. No doubt the assumption was that would be the P4 champions plus 1 from the other conferences. However, since Duke beat UVA in the ACC championship game, the ACC champion was not one of the 5 highest ranked conference champions.
So JMU got one of the “automatic” bids as a higher rated conference champion.

I keep seeing tweets and posts (some of them just profoundly stupid with "DEI" references) about how Texas and ND and Vandy deserve to be in the playoff over Tulane and James Madison because they're better teams. And that obviously is 100% true.

But why isn't there the same complaints about the NCAA basketball tournament? Every year there are bubble teams that get left out that would easily beat 16 seed type teams. But that's just the agreed upon format to give the little guy a chance.

NCAA hoops tourney always has some bubble talk that just fills airtime and no one cares the next day. All the legit good teams get in.

Football being at 12 teams, with so many that are so close this year just makes people a little louder.

If football goes to 16, I do think that's the number where the amount that people care will start hitting March Madness bubble irrelevance. They should go to 16 too, let the top 4 get a game on campus. Doesn't add any length to the playoffs.

Also, next year's rules wouldn't have JMU in, so that won't be an issue anymore anyway. Under next year's rules, ND and Duke would be in, Miami and JMU would be out (I think). But hopefully next year the ACC puts CFP ranking up toward the top of their tiebreaker rules.

. I don't think some of these folks are as strategic and long-term thinking as fans think they are.
Bingo. Nearly all of this stuff is an exercise in short term, reactive thinking.

20+ years ago fans put forth a narrative that there were dark and mysterious forces guiding the fortunes of college athletics. It wasn’t true then and it sure as hell ain’t true now.

notre dame is perpetually over ranked in every sport and in every subjective sportswriters voting poll. just cuz they are the "irish" . this is where true analytics matter. ND is watching at home becuz the hurricanes beat them straight up on the field. wanna get in ?
beat miami next time .
