Gerry’s teams were very fundamentally sound at Siena. I expect the same here where he’ll target kids with high basketball IQ. Who are fundamentally sound players with good athleticism. If we get those 6, obviously we need a good lead guard and we need a good center. Lots of holes to fill with the portal. Luckily in this era of college sports we can be a tourney team next year if we spend the money. We’ll see how much money we put up

Portal rules the day first and foremost. We do also need a bit of good luck in that say those 6 are accurate, all 6 or most come in and are better, committed and outplay their on paper expectations either due to rank, size , level of competition or freshmen struggles.

That school is a total mystery to me. I live outside of DC and have never met a single person who has attended there. I know it’s an HBCU but I know plenty of folks who have gone to Howard, for instance.

I will take Kingz out because I have yet to see good things happen to Syracuse when it comes to waivers.

So if you are starting with Anthony, White, Doty, Folefac, Moesch... You will need to hit on at least 4 high level players in the portal better than anyone on the list.

One issue that GMac could have starting out is that Kline and Eugene were able to spend all of the previous season evaluating players across the college basketball landscape, using analytics and an algorithm they created, to find some diamonds in the rough, including Kyle and Kingz, and evaluate PGs. I assume Kline did the same this year, but he’s now been fired, so any work they did it for naught.

At this point, I’m fine if Donnie leaves. He might need a change of scenery and a big time program that can try to get him to the NBA. Sometimes, things just don’t work out.

From what I've seen, he will not be an NBA player. He doesn't have the handle or one-on-one moves to be a SF. He's not nearly tough enough or strong enough to play PF. He thinks he is way better than he is. Probably addition by subtraction to let him leave.

Cuse was so underwhelming this past season. We had so many holes plus the culture was really bad. Gerry needs to blow everything up. That includes Kingz and White if we can find better talent.

I want to see 13 or 15 guys that play real defense, that dive for lose balls, that can give 40 hard minutes if asked to and are more than one dimensional on offense.

Kingz and White are talented. Prices for players went up about 1/3 in the last year. it's cheaper to keep some of the guys we have rather than buy replacements.
