This is exactly why I wrote the post I wrote yesterday. We are shooting for a lot more than 9 million but one sure way not to not get money is to talk like you have a lot and don't need it. Quite frankly, that is common sense. We will have at least 12 million next year. The year after, no idea. Money is flowing in and Gerry knows it.

nil is donated. rev share isnt except to help the school offset what comes from their budget but the total value of rev share doesnt change. only nil is a variable.

I'm confidant that it will be a good deal more than 9. Will we hit 12 or more? Not sure. But we are doing everything right for a change. It's not just Lobdell that is being asked for a certain number.

Agreed this is all us just yelling about stuff. I do wonder how much transparency there is about total money available when recruiting guys. If I’m trying to pick a school I want a good deal for myself but I’d also like to know there’s money to bring in other good players to play with me (I’m also very good in this scenario)

I know how both sources work, we’ve discussed this before. SU is clearly trying to fund Direct Comp through donations, hence their campaign on giving day.

Most coaches, ADs and media talk about the sum of both. That’s why people report that UK had $20M and St. John’s had $12M this season. Both were the combo of rev share and NIL.

If Gerry wants $9-10M in NIL on top of $4M in rev share then I applaud his aggressive goal.

All I’ve been saying is that $9M **in total** isn’t enough. If people think that’s negative then so be it.

I didn't say I know what the end number will be either. Because they are out raising it as we speak. I feel good about our nil situation really for the first time. Having said that, we better be successful because as others have already said, people will donate to a winner. As JFK once said, winning has a thousand fathers and failure is an orphan.

If we paid $3-4M from rev share last year then NIL was also $3-4M. Is that correct? If we’ve already double that then we’re at $10-12M total already.

i dont think anyone knows what the end end number will be either. when the collective opens more will come in but i suspect that will be small donors.
