Now that GMac is HC, what does next year's squad look like?

Vinny Lobdell said today NIL of $4-5 million. So that’s $9 with direct comp. Not enough.
Whether that's true or not, unequivocally will not be obtained exclusively through Secondary/ tertiary Internet sources and certainly message boards. In lieu of that what are your thoughts as it relates to upping the ante?

Is it too early to start looking for portal signs from our current and future players Instagram posts?

George posted about 20 mins. I’m reading it as he’s out altho it’s mostly pics of him in orange.

I can also go into the details about his picture of vegeta from dragonball Z as well but I doubt people care about that here.

After his GMac talk?

Watching all these NCAA tourney games, one thing we’re definitely going to need next season is way more size (and physicality). Michigan, Illinois, Duke, Arizona, Tennessee all have huge size. JB’s philosophy for years was to try to be bigger than your opponents at every position. We’ve definitely gotten away from that. Gmac is gonna have to find some big guys in the portal. But he does have a potentially good big man coach in AO, who was one of my favorite SU players from that golden era. We shoud have won a championship when he was here if not for that post-season injury!
Jbs thing was taller. We need muscle.

George can leave for all I care

Whoever this is is predicting Andrew Ball to come to Cuse. Interesting player. 6’9 215 SG

Seems unlikely. A quick Google search shows he visited LaSalle a couple days ago. If we are competing with LaSalle for portal guys, we’re in big trouble.

As the 14th man? That’s not an account with a clue. Ball is an inefficient taller wing who came off the bench in the CAA.

We have a right to our opinions. Many of us continued to remain positive during the years of fading under JB and during all 3 years of the Red debacle. We had a chance to FINALLY turn the page away from the Boeheim era and another family hire and gain a fresh perspective, and maybe hire a great proven coach, and instead we’re doing more of the same. Fool me once… I hope Gmac succeeds. I really do. But I’m not being blindly positive about this until I see evidence otherwise.
I understand your decision to not be blindly positive until seeing evidence otherwise.
For many years, SU hoops slowly sucked the life out of me -pretty much just hanging on as a fan.
The GMac hire was like CPR -he's our guy, and he's a winner. I decided to be blindly positive.
Now I've donated to the coach's fund, the next day bought seasons for the first time in many years, and will be there 4pm Monday.
I'm supporting GMac, allowing myself to get excited about SU hoops again.
The coming years could be very special -got on the train now before it leaves the station, and feeling great.
SU has made their move, the $ are there, and I think it's now or never to avert SU's tailspin into irrelevance.
So I'm all in, and if GMac doesn't win then I'll live with that.
But I believe that GMac WILL win, and that being fully bought in from the start will make it even more special!

The new coaching change transfer rules for 2026 is players can enter the transfer portal 5 days after the new coach is named or announced. They don't need to wait for the regular portal window, so if they want to jump in they can do it now.

So long as you don't call it being a freaking "realist". That is so damn dumb. I don't blame anyone for being skeptical. But, don't pretend it is any more real than being optimistic.

Exciting times. Can't wait for hoops next season.

Well, you have to assume Coach McNamara brings a few Siena players with him: Doty, Folefac, ???

Don't know much about Siena's entire recruiting class but that PG Moesch looks like one dynamic little guard who may just have the athleticism and heart needed to overcome his short stature. Kid looks like a baller. You'd have to assume GMac brings him along. Wonder if there are other HS recruits Gerry has his eyes on? What about the Syracuse area kid, Eli Prince who I think Siena may have offered?

Then there are the returning Orange players, if they do in fact return: Freeman, Anthony, White, Betsey, George, Womack, the Frosh Center who's name escapes me, Kingz if granted an extra year, ???

I know it's still very early for any in depth or well informed analysis of next year's team but still, any thoughts on what type of team Cuse opens with next fall?
looks like this

Was GMac Mikey Lewis' lead recruiter? He's worth some money if he doesn't follow Bennett.

This is where things get real tricky for me lol. Liked him a lot in high school but he has done almost literally nothing in 3 years of college. If we're taking 3 players from Siena, he should not be one of them but I am definitely curious to see how he does where ever he lands.
If we talk about Donnie’s injury issues playing 34 games in his first 2 years here, Ducharme has been even more injury prone than Donnie, with Reid playing only in 30 games in his first 3 collegiate years. Donnie has played at least over 1000 minutes vs Reid’s paltry 341 minutes.
