Wonder if family members etc qualify? I could see an absolute mess if there are no true rules. Multiple people could contend to be the real player’s agent, deals could be made without players’ consent possibly etc. Hopefully the colleges have their own legal representation to protect themselves and even the player. I don’t know if I’m interpreting this all correctly - seems wild. That's a good point, JOC.
I find this part confusing:
How does the NCAA identify or define the term "agent"?
An agent is any individual who, directly or indirectly: (a) Represents or attempts to
represent an individual for the purpose of marketing the individual's athletics ability or
reputation for financial gain; or (b) Seeks to obtain any type of financial gain or benefit
from securing a prospective student-athlete's enrollment at an educational institution or
from a student-athlete's potential earnings as a professional athlete.
