now that joe is fired, will they let him back on

i bet they don't.

No they have to separate from him and they know it.

campus after he cleans out his locker.

do they take all his keys away and he was fired, will he be allowed back to see games.

in the real world once your fired under these types of circumstances, your banned from everything.
they let sandusky back on campus (and more)

Do they rip down his statue?

They are going to have to once everything comes out. This really is just the beginning IMO. This is going to be collosal.

I know this will come across as dark, but I would bet that JoePa doesn't last long after this. PSU football was his life.

how much you want to make a bet he tries to work his way into the stadium especially since the BOT trustees didn't specifically say he couldn't? He's egotistical apparently (not stepping down today himself) to try it I'd imagine.

Joe didn't abuse the boys himself. He put his own interests and what he thought were the interests of the school over those of the boys and that's wrong and the basis for a firing but I wouldn't think it would make him personana non grata or necessitiate removal of any evidence of his presence there.

I wonder what's really going on in his mind. I'll bet it isn't "I wish I did more for the kids." I think it's more like "Why are they doing this to me?"

Are you kidding me?

He knew about the sexual molestations, and continued to grant the guy access to Penn State facilities for YEARS. He may have "reported" the allegations up the chain, but he most assuredly did NOT do the right, moral thing--to the contrary, he looked the other way and intentionally turned a blind eye. How many additional kids do you think eventually were abused after this was first brought to Paterno's attention? His willful inaction is as heinous as the crimes themselves.

And my guess is that he was complicit in helping to keep it quiet--and that this information will come out as more dirt gets uncovered.

There is no defense for Paterno's actions--or lack thereof--none.

He'll be sleeping in a tent on Wall St. by week's end.

Agreed and thats the problem isn't it.

Really? He allowed the abuse. Pretty much the same thing.

I think when more comes out, it will be like in the old soviet union. he will disappear in pictures.

Completely agree--there is no salvaging this legacy. There will be no "well, time has passed and it's time to focus on what JoePa accomplished..." sentiment.

He was fired in disgrace--justifiably so. And as you point out, I'm guessing that we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of how massive this scandal will become.

I'm not defending him. I'm saying that his (in)action resulted in his firing but they won't erase every evidence that he existed, which was the question.

I have two friends, neither of whom know each other, that have said they thought he would be dead within 6 months.

That's the first thought I had after seeing him last night.I could see this sending him into a depression he never recovers from.I will say 6 months tops.

SWC, I'm actually quite surprised to hear you espouse this perspective. I categorically disagree with your premise.

What Paterno didn't do was reprehensible, particularly given how he continued to allow a predatory pedophile rapist to have access to campus facilities for years after this mess was initially brought to his attention, resulting in countless additional child sexual molestation victims. I don't think that anyone has sympathy for the "he did what was legally required" apologist perspective anymore, or buys that him being fired was sufficient "punishment"--especially as more damning information continues to surface.

Mark my words: if it comes to light that any of this was intentionally covered up--and my money is on that being exactly where this goes--than JoePa's disgraceful legacy will be a blight that PSU will willingly bury.

Assuming NOTHING else comes out against Paterno (and it probably will - that he knew in 1998 for instance - i don't think that's been verified yet), I would guess he'll be around the program at some point assuming he doesn't die soon. Like SWC said, since he didn't molest the kids himself (not defending him - AT ALL) the loonies at Penn State that worship him and were defending him nonstop as doing "enough" will still love to see him around the program.

When they dude dies though, it's going to be huge. I think there is a pretty good chance he gets his glory back, but he won't be around to see it obviously (that's a good thing - he doesn't deserve it). (Again - assuming nothing else comes out).
If he dies in 6 months, I bet they still shut down that crazy state to celebrate his life.
