Now that we’re just playing for bowling position

To be clear, We are playing for eligibility. Based on the way our D looks right now we need to.get that behind us first and foremost

I understand it a little but Syracuse football fans have PTSD.
We aren’t the same team. We are a bowl team.
I thought that after last week. Right now I'm thinking this is the same old cuse program I've been watching for years now.

A lot of us would have been pleased w/ 4-2 before the season began. This loss hurts, but we're still in a position to make progress. We're Syracuse fans, we should expect the unexpected. Shake it off, get to 6, make a bowl & look forward to the future. Good teams lose bad games every season.

Only horse in town right?

Pitt is no better than Louisville. That is not gimmie.

I didn’t think we’d lose our last 3 games by like a hundred points last year. Who knows? I think we will beat UNC. Other than that, I don’t feel great about anything at this point.
We have proven to be a much better team at home. We have three more true home games and one fake home game left.

Moreover, for a team that was leading Clemson for three quarters, all of our remaining games are winnable. We will be a favorite in 2-3 of them!

With a 10 point lead in the 4th qtr last week we wouldn't be thinking about being happy
To be 4 and 2.

True, home will be big for UNC and Louisville. Gotta have those two.

I don’t feel good about NC State at all, even with it being at home.

Wish Wake was home...

BC will be a long day if we can’t stop the run. Hopefully we buck the trend of the last few years and actually get better on defense this year? Improved depth will help right? Let’s hope so.

Pitt is awful. May not win another game this year. Who they beating?
Virginia, Duke, pretty much any team in the coastal division. They all beat each other up they’re all like us Pitt beat Miami last year they could beat anybody they suck but they could outscore anybody.

Pitt might win 2 more games at the most. Duke is better than Pitt.

No, and I was there. But it's where we're at. And I'm used to it by now.

I'm just glad we are not playing Tech this year. With our inexperienced linebackers and safeties against that offense, it would get ugly.

Btw how is 6 and 6 with a senior qb an easy schedule anything to get that excited about?

Right? I mean, we pretty much all thought we would win today. Some thought it would be a blowout. We lost. They manhandled us down the stretch. Not Clemson. Mediocre Pitt tossed us around. If other teams can do the same, they will likely beat us too. It’s a major flaw that we have to fix, or have to hope the opponent can’t take advantage of.

Some are right back on the horse talking like we’re still good. Good for them for maintaining that optimism? But I’m not feeling it right now. It’s not just that we lost, it’s that a mediocre team that we 100% knew was running every play, still ran the ball successfully at will, to win the game.

Beat UNC and I’ll feel better.
Pitt is a power run team and we've had trouble stopping even the worst teams on our schedule from running the ball. Matchups matter even though we're the better team.

We're better than we've been since 2012, but still have glaring weaknesses. You cant make as many mistakes as we did and win on the road.

The fake home game was never meant to be a home game. This team just can’t play well outdoors.

Again they aren’t good but HFA and Cuse turnovers and horrible play calling cost us this game.
Pitt isn’t UConn.
They are full of P5 athletes.
We just made stupid decisions.
This isn’t MTSU. It was a conference road game we were a 3.5 Point favorite. Basically we blew a game we win 6 of 10 times.

It's not. I think the optimists on this board, including myself, would be a bit disappointed with 6-6 with how we started the year and the schedule we have.

I guess what I'm saying is I've been a cuse fan for 25 years and the attitude that we can only be what we are and should expect some measure of disappointment has been a recurring theme since the mcbabb era through coaches, administrations, etc. And many fans are just like, aw shucks it is what it is. There is no asterisk next to our name. We are just as entitled as anyone.lets be all we can be at that time. Lets go for it. Let's be bold. Clemson is 4-0 and said, -ck it, not good enough, and put a freshman qb in over an entrenched starter. And they have a lot more to.lose.

Be bold.

Again I didn’t say we are a 6-6 team.
I said I think we are an 8-4 team.
People who are looking at our recent history and I get it a little aren’t taking 6 wins for granted.
My OP did take 6 wins for granted and that is where the discussion has gone instead of what I was saying.

It’s not, but it would at least be a positive step forward.

Coming into the year most would’ve taken 6-6. It takes awhile to build a program from where we were.

What would be tough if we go 6-6 is we were 4-0, leading Clemson and staring at 2 more winnable games following Clemson.

Two straight gut wrenching losses is tough, especially when a major flaw in our team is coming out. I’m fearing anyone who can run the ball will give us fits the rest of the way. Book is clearly out on us there. Any team with a decent run game that doesn’t come out trying to run the ball down our throats is out of their minds.

I don't disagree. You've got my fandom by about 7 years. I was a Frosh in '00. I'm just learning to take it in stride. I'm disappointed by today's results as well.

Yup even I could break off long runs against that defense.
