Nunzio Campanile to UConn

Achilles injuries heal and Steve had a few good games. Nunz had the relationship with the family. There was concern that if he went to another p4 program that Steve would leave. I mean I guess it could still happen

Thanks goodness Nunz didn’t go to another P4 program then.

Wish him well - except if/when they play Cuse.

A few good games? He put up a 45.4 QBR against Tennessee, nearly let UConn win and padded his stats against Colgate while still playing in the 4th quarter as we ran up the score. Sure he looked good against Clemson but I don’t see any other P4 programs lining up to throw money at him based on one game. Also, Clemson wasn't very good this year.
I don’t know what he will look like next season once he is healed, but not seeing that he would be a huge prospect for other P4 programs when leading the nation in passing yards when he got hurt and then the team literally had the entire season derail when he was hurt, is one of the most nonsense things I’ve read on this board. You don’t have to demean players and coaches that they aren’t good enough to go to the competition. Also, if you do, please don’t complain when they actually leave and do go to the competition.

Also I’m glad he didn’t get hired as an OC by a bigger school trying to steal Steve.
Really. I would think a is kid off an Achilles isn’t really being sought after for a big NIL payout? I still think the kid will be hard pressed to be game 1 starter next year. People will say he’s already throwing etc etc but game action is 100% different. Take most professional athletes a year to comeback from this injury. Dint see why this would be any different.

Nobody is
Just in the northeast, I’m sure UConn, (especially after today) Rutgers, and Boston College would love to have Steve. I’m sure many other programs across the country with assurances and at a price would love to have Steve as well. He’s a Notre Dame developed QB. It’s more than just the skill, it’s the leadership.

I don't think its "most" take a year. I think its "some" take a year. Younger most always being better as well for faster recovery. He could be ready or he might not. But year puts him in Septemberish

“Nation’s leading passer" Talk about nonsense. Congratulations you’ve discovered the most meaningless stat in college football when it’s built on UConn and garbage‑time padding vs. Colgate. He wasn’t torching Georgia he was racking up yards on teams that barely have pulse checks on defense.

And notice you didn’t refute a single thing I said. Not the 45.4 QBR vs Tennessee, not the stat‑padding in the 4th quarter vs Colgate not that Clemson was down this year. All you came back with was "leading the nation in passing yard" like that magically erases context.

If your entire argument boils down to one inflated stat with zero acknowledgment of who it came against. That’s not analysis that’s fan fiction.

Nobody’s demeaning anyone. I’m just not pretending that a QB who feasted on cupcakes is suddenly some coveted P4 prize, especially if it's unknown if he'll even be ready for the season.
If you couldn’t see the light bulb turn on for Steve running this offense in the 4th quarter against UConn I don’t know what to tell you. Clemson was 7-5 this season and I genuinely think that if they beat Syracuse that they would’ve found the spark to go 9-3 or 10-2. Momentum is real in football. Even the Tennessee game that rating is brought down by one of the flukiest interceptions and a fumble that was caused by a complete breakdown in scheme and might’ve even been a facemask on the Tennessee defender. He made huge plays to keep us somewhat in the game that would’ve been more evident if the defense didn’t breakdown when the lead was cut to 17-7 and 24-14.

Murderers row right there

Stop, he tore his Achilles the first week in October. He’s not being sought after because the injury takes time to come back from. There’s getting back on the field and there’s playing again where you trust the surgery and rehab

You’re arguing in hypotheticals not reality. Everything you just said is an if. If Clemson won, if momentum shifted, if the interception didn’t happen, if they called a facemask. LOL. None of that changes what actually happened on the field. You are inventing alternate timelines where everything magically breaks Angeli's way. I’m talking about what he did. You’re talking about what he might have done in a fantasy world.

Thanks for making it easy to ignore you.

That's what people say when they don’t have an actual counterargument. I laid out stats, context and on‑field results. You came back with a one liner. This isn’t an echo chamber where everyone nods their head in agreement. If pointing out a 45.4 QBR, garbage‑time padding, and cupcake defenses is too much for you that’s fine but don’t pretend it’s because I’m wrong. It’s because I’m not playing along with the fantasy version of Angeli you want to believe in.
You're all hopped up on self righteous fury or whatever, but richmond has some of the best info on the board.

I guarantee this is not a situation where he doesn't have a counter argument.

Your gonna have to get an appt with an optometrist, he's had multiple programs backchannel to him.

I thought it was reported a month or two ago that Steve already signed a contract with us for next year. No?

Look at the recent video in the Angeli thread.

He's already throwing and flexing his foot. He might be less than a month from full speed reps. He's way ahead of the one year schedule. Keep your fingers crossed...

What's up recently with seemingly half the threads turning into slobberknockers? We are all Syracuse football fans here. I get it fans is short for fanatics but geez people need to chillax. After a couple back and forth just agree to disagree. That's fine. This is supposed to be the place we go to enjoy Syracuse sports as a group. To get people back on track, I will throw in some...."Cowbell "

Guy shows up, really does have some insights and is obviously knowledgeable, but also seems like he can't wait to find someone to argue with.

He'll probably quote this post and say, "'seems like he can't wait to find someone to argue with' is what someone says when they don't know how to find someone to argue with."

I'm all for good debate, and admittedly I usually just follow it and don't contribute to it, but the aggressive tone is a turn off.

^ This, I'm all for talking about college football and Syracuse.
The aggressive tones, name calling, etc is just such a turn off and you just have to avoid those people or ignore.

Typical cynical haterade, IMO.
With Angeli this team makes a bowl- no doubt.
To suggest he was just chopped liver and would've made no difference is both presumptive, and borderline idiotic.
We're all frustrated...but this take is just silly.

Angeli tore his Achilles on Sept 20 against Clemson, not the first week of October.

Multiple programs backchanneling? Sounds like you can’t name a single school, you just wave your hands and say "trust me they’re out there." If there were real programs with real interest you’d list them. You didn’t because you can’t. Your entire rebuttal is "well actually, these mystery schools totally want him, I swear." If your argument is so strong, name the programs. Otherwise don’t tell me to get my eyes checked when you’re the one seeing imaginary offers.
Around here, we do NOT divulge sources or provide information we are told not to divulge.

Just because you are indignant because we don't doesn't mean it will start to happen.

As a newbie, I will reiterate one of the sacred rules of the board:

We do not ask, "Who's your source?"

Corollary to this rule: we do not pass along information we are told not to pass along.
