Can we go back to Big East?

SU has made several mistakes over the past decade. Leaving the BE for the ACC wasn’t one of them.

Way back when, SU left a bloated Big East and joined the ACC. Back then there was discussion about this was a mistake, driven by football the financial driving force of college sports. Then SU football was at a very low point but bball was "all right" and thought could be competitive with ACC bball. That last just a couple years and then the decline started. Football is moving towards being competitive but with talk over the past few years of major changes in conference alignment that could change. So again did SU make a big mistake going to the ACC? Did the school misread where it stood in sports, feeling over confident based on past success and not seeing where it really stood in the 2000's, a large school in upstate NY not a destination point for athletes. Now with NIL an even bigger driver, can SU be anything better than a middle of the pack football and basketball school?

If we didn’t make the move we would be hopeless in football and football drives the bus.

Syracuse is a failed mercenary. We were brought in to compete but exchanged being a body bag for ACC checks, which turned out to be much smaller than we were led to believe by the Good Doctor Gross. As a result, our programs languished while others grew. Unfortunately, the administration was asleep at the wheel for the existential risks of NIL and further consolidation. Because of this, we are very much at risk for being left behind. We simply don’t have the eyeballs, alumni, and recent success of other programs. If you follow discussion online on this topic, we are very much perceived as a left behind misfit with schools like Wake Forest, BC, Pitt, Wash St, and Oregon St. Sucks to suck. Hope we figure it out.

Forget going back to the Big East, but bring some of that Big East feeling back to Syracuse basketball. How? Play one game per season at MSG (NOT Barclays!). Get the NYC area alums excited about Syracuse basketball and MSG brings back great memories for the older alums (the ones with money to help with NIL). And, Syracuse needs to figure out a way to play St. John's, UConn, Georgetown, and Villanova more frequently as Syracuse has no real rivals in the ACC. (BC is not a basketball rival.)

Sometimes there are no good options. Joining the ACC was a bad option but it was our best option. We have no mojo on the ACC and never will regardless of the coach.

UCONN is trying to get out of the BE they have a consulting company hired to do so. Not a lot of funding for most of the schools. Not where we want to be despite the location

The answer NO and I don't know folks keep bringing this up. 2/3 of all sports revenue is generated by football. Are you to give that up? Besides, the version of the BE that we all loved is gone.
