He crossed the finish line at a higher speed than my max speed in the best conditions. Truly unbelievable.Winner wins in just over two hours. That's almost 13 miles an hour. Not sure my treadmill even goes up that high.
It's like running a 40-yard dash in a little over 6 seconds... for 26.2 miles.Winner wins in just over two hours. That's almost 13 miles an hour. Not sure my treadmill even goes up that high.
If that marathon champ was averaging 13 mph, he literally could be moving faster than traffic on the BQE.
If they had a marathon exclusively consisting of big guys who had just burned one, this entire board would come to cheer you on. And it would be a ratings sensation. He crossed the finish line at a higher speed than my max speed in the best conditions. Truly unbelievable.
Half marathons count? Already happened lol. If it doesn’t, will never happen again. 1 star, not recommended. If they had a marathon exclusively consisting of big guys who had just burned one, this entire board would come to cheer you on. And it would be a ratings sensation.
That's impressive!!!I appreciate all the kind words -- thank you! I apologize for the delayed response but was out celebrating with a bunch of friends in the city last night that had come in to watch the race. I must say that yesterday was extremely challenging (particularly the last 6 miles). It took me 5 months to recover from the broken leg in late March so only had 2 months to train (off a 0 base), so it was basically starting from scratch. My main goal this year was just to finish, to keep the streak alive (now 32). The NYRR updated their Streaker 15+ link on their website this morning and I moved up 5 spots this year due to other "streakers" not participating. I am now one of 29 people in the world with a current consecutive streak of 32+ NYC Marathons.

Awesome. Hope the leg is fully healed and will not cause any future problems.I appreciate all the kind words -- thank you! Wow that’s amazing — what is the all time record and do you think it’s attainable?I am now one of 29 people in the world with a current consecutive streak of 32+ NYC Marathons.
The leader is at 47, but he is 80 and has about 20 years on me (so he is catchable). The green dot on the right denotes a current streak. But the 3rd and 4th guys will be much tougher to catch at ages 71 and 69 respectively. So my near-term goal for the next couple of years is to break into the top-20, and then long-term would love to crack the top-10.Wow that’s amazing — what is the all time record and do you think it’s attainable?
