I really think marrone will give the hometown boy A Phillips every chance to win a spot. Most likely RT Tackle. I dont know if Hickey's ready. He's had issues with both knees. Does anyone know his status going into the spring? Is he cleared to practice without limitations? Also I think they will give a serious look at L. Alexander at the guard position. He was listed as a back up at guard and tackle last season. That tells me the coaches like him. Curtis will be in the mix too. Spring ball will answer some questions

Alexander being 2nd on the depth chart could be because the coaches like him or because we were lacking options. Where he lands on the dpeth chart this year will depend alot on how hard he's worked on his conditioning.

Depending on how healthy Curtis, Trudo, and Hickey come back this may be the first year in a long time that we have a legitimate 2 deep where there is competition in camp and chance for an Olineman to be pulled if he's under performing.

I thought Philips did a solid job two seasons ago when he had to fill in for Hay [against Pitt, I believe]. Tall kid--seems like his main issue is that he's light--needs more sand in the bucket.

We need to get better at OL.

We need guys to really step up.

Looking forward to spring practice.

Bingo. We will start winning consistanly when we start winning the battles with this group.

Me too. I know little about grading an OL, I'd really only notice if someone is getting schooled. He seemed to hold his own. And he was young. Couple seasons later, wouldn't be the worst thing for him to have a role, at worst a very capable backup. Will be nice to one day not be terrified if an OL gets hurt.

I think some good points posted on this thread. Phillips should be in line for a legit chance at RT. He does need to get bigger and stronger. He's tall at 6'5", but played at 175-180lbs his entire career. If he could weigh in at a solid 195-300, I think he'd be very serviceable and would hold up well over the course of the season. RG is Alexander's IF he can lose some weight and get himself into better playing shape. I'll wait and see with Hickey, he's had 2 serious knee injuries. I could see him shifting over to RG. Curtis should be 100% to go and the staff likes him. He could also emerge at RT. I don't really see Trudo as a C, but he may forced to fill the back-up role. I really see him pushing Chibane at LG. Foy could be behind Alexander and Robinson will likely understudy Pugh. The darkhorse FR could be Omari Palmer. I could see him possibly breaking the 2 deep during the course of the year. Knapp and Emerich will be redshirted. There are a lot of health issues to be determined with the likes of Hickey, Trudo, Curtis and Robinson. Should be interesting to see what happens with this unit this spring.

Did someone play a prank on you and switch your 1 and 2 keys?

I was thinking the same thing. lol. But I agree, a much improved O line can make everything look better. Despite the big play WR, RB, or QB that doesnt know how to turn a play that had nothing into something. O line lets turn it up.

Was/is Robinson injured as well? ...I had hoped he would make the two deep at tackle this year.
