McCord is only 47th in passer rating
What this might show (in addition to all the screens dragging him down) is you're better off throwing all the time even if your QB isn't great, as long as he's good enough

Our offense is only slightly better better play than our defense. 6.06 to 5.65

But we have run 395 plays and our opponents only have run 306

It's has to come back to earth, you can't have this many more plays than everyone else even with the kicking woes

Big big caveat I should've noticed sorry about that
Defensive SRS is hurt by special teams. It's still early enough where gift tds matter and weigh heavily
SRS works great with enough data and tells you how you did
Yards per okay is a better predictor with limited data imo

I'll get on a computer later you figure out where we rank in yards per play margin. Probably middle of the pack

Good to know

Extrapolate out STs into their own srs and I bet the D is way improved.

I think McCord is irreplaceable great between the ears. Going to be hard to plug and play that kind of elite level field IQ, experience and cerebralness.
Getting the qb from maybe the best team in college football ain’t happening often. We hit the lottery getting Kyle and unless Syracuse is willing to pony up some crazy dollar figure it is going to be nearly impossible to get this type of qb play anytime soon.
How awesome would it be if somehow we could retain McCord for another season?

Angeli

I'm manifesting this.

I suspect this is right but they got a qb and they're letting him chuck it and if they keep doing that everything will be fine despite a bunch of smaller things that I'm not crazy about

Hoping Brown sells that dome throw all the time vision

We have functional talent at the WR spot. If we had OSU level we would be scoring 40+ every game with this offense. Lets shoot for somewhere in the middle

From the little we have seen the FR I think once they know the offense they are all a step ahead of what we have for the most part playing now.

We have to get the oline to be better because we wont have the same level of thrower most likely. But better oline can help with that.

Need Pena to stay, Tremble to put on weight, hornsby ross gill hatcher and we can survive if Haynes doesnt make it back.

vs FBS teams...

Scoring O: 5th
Rushing YPG: 16th in ACC
Rushing YPC: 13th
Passing YPG: 2nd
3rd Down: 2nd

Scoring D: 13th
D Rushing YPG: 14th
D Rushing YPC: 17th by a lot
D Passing YPG: 5th
Opp 3rd Down: 9th
Sacks: tied 12th
Forced Fumbles: tied 14th
INTs: tied 7th

McCord isn’t just important this year, he is crucial to Fran pitching the vision of this program going forward. We were fortunate that we could afford Kyle because of his relationship with Fran and their families being close. With that being said, our next portal QB may not be as high profile as Kyle, but we can certainly get a Kurtis Rourke kind of player at least, high end G5 QB who sees what this offense can do for a QB trying to go to the NFL.

QB is great. He is irresponsible sometimes. Many of the near picks or picks are completely avoidable. Everyone has something to work on, even Kyle.

The D & specials & the running game are what are going to determine if this season is good or great.

Those D numbers are awful, especially against our schedule.

I agree about McCord but at the same time when you throw it 50 times a game, those plays are bound to happen.

I hate a bend but don't break D. I also think it is a horrible match for an O like ours that can put up yards and points. You don't want your O sitting on the sideline and losing TOP. That being said if the D does its job you are limiting big plays and points. The problem is the last few games we have been giving up those big plays, and points.

Style aside, there is zero excuse for the poor tackling we have seen all year long. That is soft and not Northeast strong.

The D numbers are dragged down by ST being included in them

The D needs to cg it's mission, whatever it is, to give Kyle more opportunities.

I sorta accepted the 10 yards off stuff 20 years ago when we were severely outmatched. It sucks now. What advantage does 3 vs 7 yards off really give anyone anyway?

Why tighten up inside the 20 when you could do the same from the other 20?

What 4D chess does it give us to allow 6 yard chunks after 6 yard chunks against Stanford?

Why are we tackling guys forward for 3-5 more yards?

Are we trying to mask some deficiency?

I think he is not a guy you can replace. He’s easily the past passer in Syracuse history and it’s not close
That's what Brown's here to do. If he can't, I didn't think he's gonna make up for it. I just didn't want you be a hypocrite, good QB and throwing a lot of 80% of this, so if he can keep finding QBs, then I shouldn't complain about the 20%

McCord looks great compared to Syracuse history but I think that says more about Syracuse history. If babers recruited a QB, he'd still be here

Yes, I think he’s trying to mask a poor defensive backfield that will get toasted over the top. If we could tackle, it would be working better but the tackling is awful.
