Official convince us why you're not screwed thread

BTW, don't take all this seriously--just having some fun since the joy ends when the football season begins...like Tomcat I'll miss getting our asses kicked in the UConn games...I hope for your invite to the ACC over Rutgirls if I win the lotto or we bring in Notre Dame, whichever comes first.
No offense taken. I would hope that our schools continue to schedule each other until we're in the same conference again. I have always enjoyed playing Cuse and respect your school and fans.

It must be frustrating watching a public school pass you by. At least you still have communications degrees.
Or social sciences, mainly the MPA, and then there is Architecture and the Visual and Performing Arts program, but that's no big deal

This is getting so old.

Who cares that RU and Uconn are still in the big east and SU is going to the ACC.

At the end of the day, SU will be making more money but RU and UConn have a better chance of winning their conference and making a bcs game as the system stands now.

It all comes down to how you look at it. I'd take a BCS game over a few extra million dollars easy, but that's just me.

So tired of the dick measuring.

One of the best parts about working for NASA is never having to work with anyone that went to UConn.

(and seriously, communications degree? With my screenname that's what you went with?)

So, what you're really saying is that you're NOT the guy who says' "Houston, we have lift off"? Man, now that is so depressing, I thought you were a REAL star at NASA...You're probably one of those science guys that just figures technical things and such, nothing important...Dude, you let us all down... (Sarcasm off)

The SU vs. UCONN argument is so old. I grew up in B1G country... currently live in B1G country...and lets get a couple of things straight:

1) No one here pays attention to Northeastern football. NO ONE. It's depressing.
2) No one here can name the teams that have won the conference over the last few years.
3) If I walked down Rush Street and asked people what they think about BE football, they would say, "the BE plays football?"
4) No one can name a great player that came out of the UCONN football program. The only people that can name famous players from the Syracuse program are baby-boomers (or older) that might be able to name Brown/Little/Davis/Csonka. If I asked someone from the Southside, they would name McNabb.
5) If UCONN is such a great academic institution, why do so many kids flock to B1G schools from the state? East coasters have been flooding Indiana, Wisky and Michigan for so long that residents from those respective states are enraged that the aforementioned schools accept so many out of state students. The schools do so because they collect out of state tuition vs. in-state tuition and, as a result the in-state acceptance rate drops (which is unfortunate for a tax payer that wants to send a child to the state university). If UCONN is such a public powerhouse, why aren't midwesterners within the B1G footprint flocking to UCONN?

I get a kick out of this board because SU, UConn and Rutgers fans like to participate in an ongoing pissing contest. The problem with all of it is that if you combined the fanbases of all three schools, the B1G would STILL take Nebraska. It's as though we are all participating in the smallest competition and...well...no one wants to lose that one. Then again, not many people outside the northeast even care...

Sorry man, I have lived in Philly, CT and Boston. Aside from Penn State in Philly(and to a lesser extent CT back in the 80's/90's), noone gave a about the B1G. So midwesterners don't care about the BE, well folks from the northeast who aren't transplants don't care about the B1G. That's not the problem for northeast schools. Our problem is that college sports don't have the same importance here that they do in the midwest or south.

I have no idea where you're getting your info from on #5, but that's just odd. I know noone who went to IU/UM/UW. My friends and classmates went to ND, UNC, Cuse, Ivies and assorted New England and NYC schools. Why a CT would go to Indiana - a lower ranked school with a higher acceptance rate that's going to cost almost three times as much for tuition? Unless they have a specific elite academic program, no idea why they'd make that decision.

Yeah kinda agree with the Husky here...I never gave a crap about the Big 10 either...FB is generally regional.

Well, I know many. And I have no idea why you think Indiana is ranked lower than UConn. Is it because you source US News & World Report? I graduated from a B1G school with an MBA...the University of Chicago...and I have no idea where US News ranks them...nor do I care (I was never stupid enough to use it as a source). Indiana has a very strong undergrad business school. IU also only accepts 62% from within the state. UConn accepts 80% (per each schools' website).

Ratings disagree. O$U, Michigan and Wisky draw better than any BE program. And I will GLADLY acknowledge that the B1G has underperformed for quite awhile (Go Maroons!). Of course, when I say "underperform," its all relative. They have sucked relative to the SEC and B12... To the BE? ...LOL.

And I guess Urban Meyer decided to coach a "regional" university... Geez, why didnt he go to Rutgers or UConn and get NYC exposure?

Now you are getting silly.

Personally I think Big 10 FB sucks...never liked it or its' teams.

And I bet the ratings are highest in the Midwest and lowest down South and Out West.

LOL. Well, if Meyer came out of retirement to coach SU/UConn/RU, then people would have assumed that he retired from UF due to mental health reasons as a way of justifying his decision to coach one of those schools.

I wished we could've grabbed him outta Bowling Green...

Out west? With the Rose Bowl? Plus, how many alums does the B1G create every year? Over 100,000? Seton Hall is good for 1,300! Put it on the board!

I concur, TM. From my days when I was stationed in Ohio, I learned to like OSU and Michigan football, the rest of the Big 10 was worthless and unheard from. Imagine that, Minnesota would get the token mention in the news because they shared the conference with OSU, but nobody cared.

Having lived in SEC, Big 12, Big East, ACC and Pac 10 territory, I can assure you, not many people outside of Big 10 territory cared about Big 10 football. Even the two Michigan guys Iwork with could care less about the remaining Big 10 schools, other than beating Michigan State and OSU.

Don't see many, UT, TAMU, LSU or Arkansas fans too worried about Michigan, Penn State, or Illinois, even the local boys, the Houston Cougars don't seem to care about Ohio State or Iowa, or even Northwestern.

Your graduate degree did not include reading comprehension, Mr. Internet Credentials. 80% of UConn's enrollees must be CT residents. UConn's acceptance rate was 54% in 2011.

And he would have been gone in 3 years? 4? I know, take 3 good years and wish him Godspeed. And, maybe we couldn't have afforded him (and a good staff) at the time he went to Utah.

Since when has acceptance rate been worth anything? The Maxwell School and Newhouse are the two best schools in the world in their field. I believe the Architecture program is top 5? The Visual and Performing Arts is Top 25 and the Engineering school is Top 50. Very few schools can boast those kinds of rankings, but I'm not going to get into a dick measuring competition because I already know my education will exceed whatever it is you got from UConn.

This is brilliant reasoning.

I could bring up the fact that UConn has a top Dentistry school, and the top Kinesiology school in the country, and one of the leading genetics research labs in the world, but these are both really good schools.

The main difference is one of them you'll pay $55,000 a year for. If you think it's worth the debt, more power to you.

I like hating on UConn as much as the next guy, but they've gotten very competitive recently. I wouldn't put them ahead of Cuse unless you want to be a dentist or a puppeteer, but it's a very solid public school, and it's getting harder and harder to get in to.
