Who hasn't admitted that this staff is in over their heads? HCSS is a d coordinator getting on the job HC training at the expense of Syracuse. So far the program is getting the short end of the stick.

I'm sorry but Shafer is the absolute worst. How does he even remotely think that was a higher percentage decision to kick a 48 yarder that has no chance compared to a 4th and 1

Shafer caught a break. Terrible call to go for aseason long field goal outdoors in the wind as opposed to 4th and 1.

We should be up 14-0, if not 21-0. Virginia has been horrid so far and we have completely dominated the game.

Dominating a game everywhere but the scoreboard is going to lead to a lot of complaining and angst 100% of the time for any team's fans.

You do realize Murphy kicked a 49 yarder from the right hash last year right? You also realize Shafer just faced a 3rd and inches and 4th and inches and his OL got destroyed twice in a row. You only go for it if you have any confidence you can convert. At some point you have to get points, and Shafer decided to try and get them there. Also if you can't trust your kicker might as well not let him kick.

Clearly he didn't, hopefully we don't end up chasing points later in the game that we gave away early with the fumble, missed FG and failed attempt to get into the end zone.

this is absolutely right. And, somehow, the fact that you feel the need to say this is incredibly depressing and quite damning on the history of decision making for Shafer.
