I can't vouch for the new Syracuse students (I assume it would be the same though), but at transfer orientation yesterday at ESF the packet says: "Free SU Men's Football Game vs. Northwestern. All new students will receive a free ticket..."

They also placed this information in a huge packet that almost no one probably read, which sucks.

I know I read someone mention that last year's Wake Forest game had free student tickets, was that just for NEW students? Or all students?

33-35k max, there is zero buzz about the program in Syracuse and thats putting it lightly.

I am currently in Florida for school but I am as excited for this season as any in the past 5 years. Is there really no excitement in Syracuse right now? Disappointing.

Among the diehards yes there is a lot of excitement, but for the casual fan or really the rest of the population no. It pains me to say this but after a decade + of futility theres a large % of the Upstate community thats indifferent to the football program. They simply dont care or even really think about it to be honest. I would bet my life that half the Syracuse population doesnt even know SU plays next Saturday less who the opponent is. One person told me we were playing USC next saturday at home. There really is a lost decade of people out there that just dont give a about SU football and are pretty much lost forever.

10k who got into the game for 10. Freakin bucks with a fair ticket..which in reality dropped season tix value 25 bucks for those of us who payed normal price before they went discount crazy for the non-loyal fans

Retro said the $10 tix were selling really well...but I can't imagine them selling more than 5-6k extra out there this week. BTW, Retro said folks were buying season passes out at the State Fair...he had a nice chat with a ticket guy.

For a 12:03 normal kick I'd say you're correct...but remember it will be a 12:01 kick...gotta say 8.8k.

They give free tickets for the first game to freshmen/transfers at orientation every year. Student attendance at the opener is never an issue.

or who gave **** at one time but got tired of the same ol. hence a drop in sth. admittedly i struggled to renew this year., and am less excited than usual. we'll see. 40-45 is about the best su will ever do or has done with few exceptions.

And, I predict it will be a one-TD game the entire way. The drop in attendance after half is for yard-work and the drop at start of 4Q is due to traffic.

Announce 42,000 but probably only 36,000 or so in the stands. Fair is going on, long weekend some people travel, some mom's doing back to school shopping with the kids and all the sales, plus team had a horrible finish last year. I am hearing no buzz for this game at all among casual fans I run into. I interact with a lot of people daily for my job and nothing. People who in past years would always talk to me about SU football, right now nothing. I am not even sure if some people know the season starts this week.

Ticket Office said they expect more for Northwestern than they had for Wake Forest last year.
