Class of 2021 OG TJ Ferguson (GA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/30/25)

Agree 100%. Having a quality OL not only will give the QB better protection / more time to throw, but it can also mask a lot of sins.

We benefitted from having quality depth last year. Right now, we are down to 8 guys with some level of experience. Adequate if nobody gets hurt to field a minimum rotation, but we'd be in trouble quick if a player or two gets dinged up [which seems to happen every year].

So adding a couple of guys -- and not just warm body guys, but prospects who can come in and challenge for a starting role -- is imperative.

We add another OT and another interior linemen [at minimum], then I'm a lot more comfortable. And let the chips fall where they may in terms of who wins the PT.
It's similar to the way Fran attacked the QB room. He is looking to increase the talent land competition level. This is not necessarily just a depth move.

Right and agree, was just saying I would think a portal QB coming in would be probably be pretty focused on what is happening there. He played behind a ND oline and knows, with the coaches it's a pretty important group.
I hear you and agree. It makes sense that Fran would talked about the OL with Angeli and Collins.

He doesn’t seem to be thought of very highly by FSU fans rather that means anything at all.

TJ Ferguson, a former Alabama offensive lineman, is re-entering the transfer portal after a season with Florida State. Initially a highly-rated prospect from Peach County, Georgia, Ferguson was signed by Alabama in 2021. After three seasons in Alabama, where he started one game, he transferred to FSU and played in 11 games with seven starts. Now, as he approaches his final year of eligibility, Ferguson seeks new opportunities in the transfer portal.

By the Numbers

Ferguson played in 11 games for Florida State and made 7 starts.

He was rated as a 4-star recruit and ranked as the No. 2 inside offensive lineman in the 2021 recruiting class.

Yes, But

While experienced offensive linemen are in demand, the competitive nature of the transfer portal could complicate Ferguson's search for a new team. His mixed performance history may raise questions among potential suitors.

State of Play

Ferguson is entering his redshirt senior season, aiming to maximize his final year of eligibility.

His transfer from Alabama to FSU marks his second move, highlighting a trend of athlete mobility in college football.

What's Next

Ferguson will need to evaluate his options carefully, considering programs that may offer a starting role or a strong system for development. He could potentially attract interest from several Power 5 schools looking to bolster their offensive line.

Bottom Line

Ferguson's decision to re-enter the transfer portal underscores the fluidity of college football rosters. His ability to find a new home will depend on leveraging his experience and past performance while addressing concerns from potential team

Here's some Bama game action breakdown from when he transferred to FSU. Start at 4:00 mark.

Boy did I miss something here. I played high school football with his roommates son. The name was Thompson. And this was said by him long before Bert was really famous. Shows how old I am. Not Lee Corso old but not that far away.
I had a feeling something was amiss. lol
