My only problem with the broadcast was the size mismatch between Mowins and Anthony Becht. It was awkward.

Also awkward, was Becht with the scarf/turtle neck thing during his NC State player interview. He looked like a butler at a haunted house.

Think you're just biased because she is a Syracuse alum. Everybody else is the sports world dislikes her because of her annoying voice and her lack of knowledge.

Doris Burke on other hand. She has way more knowledge than Beth but her voices is even worse than Beth. But I can understand why Doris still has a job

You seem to have a firm grasp on the nuances of sports broadcasting. Like understanding that Mowins is a play-by-play announcer and Doris Burke is a color commentator (most of the time, I've heard her do PxP upon occasion). Two separate gigs.

The content for the ACCNetwork is going to be produced by the individual schools...you can already see it now with the Olympic Sports.

Was just going to post that. PxP is much more technically challenging than color...which lends itself more to entertainment and depth of commentary.

Yeah, the sideline guy was pretty bad. He did have one good line though - when a ball sailed just over his head, he said something about his "3 credit card high vertical leap". I'll give him that. Other than that, blech.

I feel like after that happened, they talked about it for the next 30 seconds while I was stewing about NC State coming back, so their joking was irritating me.

Like Tomcat, at first, I had some difficulty adjusting to a female announcer for a violent male game. Since then, I have realized that was BS and even learned to like a feminine touch that arguably offers somewhat different perspective. I evolved and I like Beth Mowins, and honestly, I did not know she was from central New York until she said so during the telecast. However, the thing that bothers me is that this thread seems to have a whiff of misogyny to it. Others have hinted at it, but no one seems to want to say it.

In my defense, my BAC was rising and my tolerance for everything outside offense/defense production was dropping as the game was progressing late. Not my finest moment; she did just fine. No problem with her at all.

There are plenty of things I regret from college but blindly hating on female announcers (not sideline hotties like Pam Oliver of course) when they broke onto the scene and started getting these gigs is one of them. I wasn't used to hearing a lady do PBP and it was dumb, sexist, and immature.

Now that I am used to a lady calling games I just judge them on content. They often have to carry a weak partner like Mowins did on Saturday. For example I couldn't stand Jess Mendoza next to Boone. He was worse than her being so boring and bland and offering nothing I couldn't have been more shocked that someone thought it was a good idea to make him manager of a big market team. Next to A Rod who I hated as a player but really like as a broadcaster I think she is excellent and all of a sudden love the Sunday Night Baseball team.

Mowins was great I thought on Saturday. (Going to SU and watching games with pals most of whom are now sports media figures the critiquing of broadcasters was pretty relentless again I wish I wasn't an idiot automatically hating whenever I heard a female on the call.)
