Ohio State...

I hate Ohio State but it is a literal no brainer they should be in. Conference champion AND 4 top 10 wins. Bama, no title and ZERO top anything wins. It would be the worst resume in the HISTORY of the playoff. And stop with the Iowa narrative. Clemson list to Syracuse. And remember I loathe Ohio st.

Osu has 2 top ten wins not 4, and they have 2 losses vs Bama's one loss.

Plus the Committee seemed to make a big point about Bryant being injured for Clemson against SU. Well several Bama defensive starters went down during the year and many of them are expected back for the playoff game if they get the invite.

What are their 4 top 10 wins???

Bama is better, they didn't lose to Iowa by 31 points.
They didn't win their division or CCG and don't have a top 10 win, OSU won their division and CCG and has 2 top 10 wins.

I put them in easily over Bama.

UCF won everything

UCF won everything
Yep, they beat Memphis and USF.

So, yeah they actually have wins as good as Bama, they just don't play in a P5 conference. So their level of competition was nowhere near what a playoff caliber team competes against.

UCF basically played 9 high schools and Memphis and USF. Fun team to watch, but they are last years Western Michigan. Nice team, but nowhere near a playoff caliber team.
They beat Maryland by 28. Average margin of victory was 24.25 (outscored opponents by 291). They did everything that could be asked or done.

They also had a stretch where they had three games postponed or cancelled early in the season and overcame that.

We will never know until the committee gives a non p5 an opportunity.

OSU got in last year without winning their division.

What was Maryland ranked when they beat them? So you're saying they beat an awful Maryland team by 28, what exactly does that translate to?

When games are scheduled or dates being changed has no bearing on anything whatsoever.

Maryland won 4 games and lost to Rutgers. UCF doesnt get a cookie for that win. The bottom line is they beat 1 top 25 team (twice) in Memphis. The rest of their schedule was hot garbage. They did everything they could and had a great year, but it doesnt mean they're a playoff team.

I think 'Bama gets in. Saban's working of the refs will make the difference.

While I agree that Central Florida's schedule was not strong enough, they tried, but none of the big boys would play them. Not their fault. The system acts as a disincentive to schedule a dangerous non P-5 school. That should be tweaked.

They also faced and beat a lot tougher schedule than Alabama did this year.

And they got destroyed by Iowa. The last time the committee gave OSU the benefit of the doubt they got slapped around by Clemson.

Honestly, how amazing will it be for the B1G to be left out of the playoff? It will be one of the best things to happen in college sports.

I'm a buckeye fan and don't think they should be in. Beaten SOUNDLY twice. Once at home and once to a so so opponent. If Bama had lost to Auburn in the 3rd week we wouldn't even be having the discussion.

1. UGA
2. Clemson
3. OU
4. Bama

Money talks and the trio of Clemson, Bama, and OSU playing each other is growing a bit stale. Think it'll be a defacto sec title game part 2, and Clemson v someone not named Bama or Buckeyes.

Not stating I think this is order they should be in if it was purely talent or resumes mind you, just that I can see many rea$on$ why it will.

Is Bama on the ESPN payroll? Is this an SEC on ESPN vs B1G on Fox thing because the pro-Bama Sunday morning analysis is...wow.

Now I think Bama is better than OSU but ESPN is openly challenging the ethics of the committee if they pick OSU.

I am sick of the committee changing standards for the benefit of Ohio State.
Penn State beat them head to head and won the Big Ten title last year.
The committee said that while Ohio State lost to penn State they dominated the game and lost on fluke and they got blown out by Michigan 49-10.
So the conference title and head to head were negated.
Now Ohio State was dominated by Penn State for 55 minutes and they won by a fluke at the end.
Ohio State got blown out 55-24 and they won the conference title.

Committee should be consistent and realize Alabama is the better team.
I would rank the teams.
1. Clemson
2. Oklahoma
3. Georgia
4. Alabama

One rule on this board when it comes to team selection in basketball and now possibly footbal...when BPO starts calling things insane, calling others dumb, makes up his own rules, or makes a guarantee... he is almost always guaranteed to be wrong.

Listen to Johnny Crybaby who gets emotional and completely bent out of shape if somebody challenges his opinion on the NCAA tournament seeding/selections.

For whatever reason this reminds me of 2014 when everyone was losing their minds that FSU could "only" be ranked 3 or 4.

Ohio State beat

Illinois
UNLV
Rutgers
Maryland
Indiana
Nebraska

I keep hearing talking heads on tv/radio trying to talk OSU up in terms of a potential CFP berth. That would be insane. They've played a horrible non- conference sked, got crushed by OU in Columbus and inexcusably routed by a mediocre Iowa squad. Their signature win was a one-pointer over PSU in Columbus after trailing for 58+ minutes. They are good at stomping mediocre teams but they've done nothing to warrant inclusion in the CFP. Wins over Mich and Wisc are not enough to change that calculus.
I bow to BPO. good call
