Doubt it more likely that Mike had a bottom line salary requirement that they wouldn't meet and/or he wouldn't agree to a really punitive condition covering themselves if he ever left for SU.

He should have gotten 1 more year, he is a competent coach who was in a tough situation. I would have thought that the fathers would have heard the saying , "Patience is a Virtue".
