Class of 2019 OL Cade Briggs (NM) Transferring from New Mexico/Offered

Well that stinks. C was exactly what we needed.

Dykes knows how to recruit himself some transfers, check out his usual haul from the SMU days, too bad we missed on this one IMO he would've been a big asset.

He did make 3rd Team All-Conference in the Mountain West That's pretty good from a team that went 1-6 in conference. Hard for those players to make all conference teams. We should know.

Bees and you guys with the grading subscriptions should see what he graded out at.

It doesn’t matter now but his grades were better than all our lineman except Bergeron. But keep in mind his level of competition wasn’t what ours was. In their games vs tougher competition such as Boise St, Fresno St and Texas A&M his pass blocking grades were Tisdale bad while his run blocking grades were so so.

Why do we keep recruiting kids from Texas?
Im serious. We have little to no chance of landing a kid from there.
Short of hiring their father how many texas kids have ever started for SU?

People said the same thing about Hawaii.

If we offer a lot of players in the portal, it is bad.

If we don't offer a lot of players in the portal, it is bad.

Sigh.

At this point, any SU fan who really follows the program should realize how imperative it is to fill the roster and have depth.

How many years in a row do we have to get burned before you realize this?

Hopefully we get a bunch of kids at all the positions where depth is a problem so that in the event of a rash of injuries (or COVID, or transfers, or whatever new calamity is soon to be upon us), we have other players with some experience and physical maturity, that can contribute relatively early in their SU careers.

I would not have the expectation that everyone we offer is expected to start immediately and dominate at the P5 level. Some of these players are surely being offered so we have enough players to hold practices and have scrimmages.

Some won't ever contribute. Some might surprise. I just checked to see who offered Cody Roscoe from the portal.

Cody ended up a first team All ACC DE.

As far as I can tell, we were his only P5 offer. Maybe his only offer period.
Good points, look at where we were last year, had to move Chris Elmore to OL. I can remember one year, think it was under Coach Marrone when the team was depleted at LB and ended up moving someone who hadn't played LB since high school.

Sometimes you are successful with a Cody Roscoe and other times not so much. Who was the OL transfer from SunBelt Conference a few years back, Alexander?

Yes, Alexander was the transfer from the Sunbelt. His nickname quickly become

Alexander the Not Great

Uhm, yeah, sounds like he could help.

Backup offensive lineman Cade Briggs, who played in two games last season, was removed from the Texas Tech roster on Tuesday.

Briggs needed to leave the team for personal reasons, a Tech athletics spokesman said.

The senior from Las Vegas, Nevada, transferred to Tech last year from New Mexico. Briggs started 24 games for the Lobos, the last 19 at left tackle. He was a backup at center and guard for the Red Raiders. Those were Briggs' first four years in college football, so he has two seasons left, counting the Covid-bonus year the NCAA awards players who were on rosters during the disrupted 2020 season.

Texas Tech starts spring practice on March 21 and concludes with the spring game April 22 at Lowrey Field.

2022 SEASON (SENIOR)
Redshirt season … appeared in two games overall on the offensive line against Murray State (9/3) and West Virginia (10/22) … was Texas Tech’s primary backup at center for most of the season and a reserve at guard as well.

HS Cade Briggs
2019 (Freshman Season): Played in nine games, starting five times … started games at both left guard (one) and right guard (four) … played 268 snaps, allowing just two hurries, no hits and no sacks … had a pass blocking efficiency of 99.1%.

High School: Lettered in football at Bishop Gorman HS for coach Kenny Sanchez … named second team All-Southwest League as a guard in 2018 … won a state title in all four seasons, including 2018, ending the season on a 10-game winning streak … helped Bishop Gorman rush for 523 yards on 52 carries in the state title game, scoring eight rushing touchdowns.

THERE IS NO FILM ON CADE OTHER THAN A BRIEF YOU TUBE VIDEO WHERE HE LOOKS GOOD ON THE O LINE AND THIS I FOUND ON GOOGLE. HE CAN RUN AND PASS BLOCK WELL. ALL HE NEEDS IS A CHANCE.
