I fund that I am highly skeptical of Stewart's reported squat weight of 700 lbs.

That would be the record setting weight for some teams in the NFL, ever, at any position. As a high school senior.

Just like every kid seems to have a 45 inch vertical and 4.3 speed until they get to campus... I can't believe he's already stronger than most NFL linemen.

Maybe he's a unicorn. Seems exaggerated.

This link includes links to the "record sheet" for two different NFL teams. It clearly indicates that no Patriots defensive lineman had ever squatted more than 685, since they started recording it, and the strongest Patriots offensive lineman did 725. If Stewart is actually that strong, what kind of monster could he be in 24 months, when he finishes growing?

You'll have to delete the space in order to get the link, Reddit did something weird to the link I posted.

Hmm... I hadn't seen that. Impressive.

He's already, in high school, beating the record for the entire Miami Hurricanes program for an interior lineman. Wow

I just saw an interview fragment with JJ watts, where he was bragging about squatting 700 lbs, and"doing similar crazy workouts." (Paraphrasing Watts)

A few things here on his squat. Obviously he is very strong and glad we have him.

1. He has a bench underneath him he is “bouncing” off of.

2. He is holding the grips on the rack which eliminates the need to balance. When squatting, a small amount of your muscles focus on balance while most focus on the lift. Doing this allows 100% to focus on the lift.

3. He is applying a small amount of upward pressure with his arms. (Not much). If he really did, that alone would add 100 lbs to the squat.

His real squat is probably in the 625 range. Still impressive, but there is a reason he is using all these assistance techniques. These things make a huge difference.

for example the world record official bench press is 780 lbs. With a rubber bench press “suit“, the record is 1401 lbs! Most people watching would not recognize the difference the suit made.
