Class of 2026 OL Xavier Payne (FL) Verbal to Colorado

I’m good with us not getting him. I think this kid was gonna be a problem and the skill wasn’t enough to deal with it. You don’t get kicked out of a visit at FSU for no reason
That was “the story” out of FSU after he yanked his pledge. You do realize he visited the school on two occasions prior and was verbally committed there for months during that stretch right? All the sudden he pulls his verbal and is now a problem child? I posted an article about what FSU is sneaking into their NIL contracts now … I think they are turning recruits off and honestly I don’t know how anyone can listen to Norvells whiny voice anyway, Hoping Hughes follows suit and bails too.

Wow I missed this. Can you share more?

So, what time is he announcing?
And more importantly, when will we actually get the announcement? Should I just check the board tomorrow morning?

Oh, and Happy Birthday to SUFaninNJ! I hope you have a Payne-ful day!

(If not, just stare at your Avatar...it's a nice consolation prize, and you can decide whether or not you want a "participation" trophy;))

Not sure but sounds like Coach Prime will be the one reeling him in

What are they slipping into their NIL contracts?

What are they slipping into their NIL contracts?

Florida State’s contract reportedly includes a clause that allows them to void or revise a deal if an athlete’s injury materially impacts their NIL value. Another gives the school the ability to extend a player’s contract without renegotiating, regardless of performance. Penalties for lost equipment or behavioral violations run as high as $2,500.

In theory, these protections serve the university. In practice, they put every athlete at risk of being turned into a line item on a risk management spreadsheet.

An injury can result in deal termination … losing equipment means you are fined $2500 … stuff like that. It’s in the FSU vs ACC thread that’s where I posted it. The injury clause floored me.
Yea...that seems insane. Fining players for things and not abiding by ethical clauses seems fine. But injury clauses is so one sided that they're asking for a court to get involved and for collective bargaining. If their performance exceeds expectations, they're not going to get more money so why would they get less if they get hurt.

Who makes these decisions at FSU? They do some ridiculously stupid things.

Would like to land this kid, given the CNY ties -- but we have a TON of big OL in this class already. So Payne would be frosting on the cake.
agree. hughes is the bigger prize to flip. Beals is intriuing too. I have to imagine we're going to be picky with our last few commits at this point. We've got a decent sized class already. Calvin can be helpful in keeping some of our high end guys committed too. And perhaps flipping someone like Bughes or getting someone else.
