Class of 2022 OL Zach Rice (VA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/30/25)

I agree. He was okay when he came in. Just think Petry is more of a lock to start than Joe. Same with Spoon versus Mack.

The battle for starting positions for the OL in the preseason is going to be epic.

Caveat: perhaps not anymore, with these 3 additions

Man, can you imagine if we landed Rice, Pringle and Cook out of high school with their ratings then. I don’t know how this board would react lol.

Sure Cook and Rice haven’t lived up to their rating yet but both have multiple years left to fulfill that. It’s not for a lack of talent. As you aren’t a 5 star unless you are uber talented. If all 3 can put it together here at Cuse. We’ll be in prettyyyyy good shape
Our running backs must think they are dreaming. O Line will have NFL size.

True story, a kid on my floor pulled a fire alarm on a Friday night. He was out of school by Monday night. He didn't throw or catch a ball.
Who turned him in?

I didn't say it would. Nor do I object with anyone that disagrees with me. I just said I wouldn't take them.
Why so black and white? Why not be more open minded when it comes to individuals who have made mistakes?
I would bet every cent that I own that over 80% of every poster on this board has done something in their life that could have if something had gone wrong cost them dearly but they didn't get caught, weren't in the wrong place. Maybe not you but most people. I respect you very much. You are a great poster have excellent information and love SU.
My two cents is that situations like this hit close to home.
I'm the same way with Cancer. Its my trigger. So I respect your point of view. I'm more inclined to provide a second chance. I hope it works out for these kids because without a second chance what future do they have?

Dash I essentially agree with you. My concern is that we become known as a refuge for kids with bad histories. A flyer here and there on kids who do stupid things, I’m okay with.

It just seemed like we brought in 4-5 all at once, and that was a turn off for me.

But I have a muuuuch bigger issue with people who intend to do harm. Like those convicted in a home invasion crime.

This situation, not great. There better be some bumpers.

Kids that get busted for weed? Eh.
I really don't think we are anywhere close to becoming known as a "refuge" for bad histories. Outside of this board, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who actually cares about this. Hell, Georgia has 20 kids with driving violations/crimes on their roster and it barely makes news.

Personally as a fan, as long as they haven't done anything particularly heinous (murder, S. assault etc) and are currently not getting in trouble, I don't care and will give everyone a chance. I'm going to root for the team regardless. Maybe that's wrong and maybe I'm in the minority, but its true.

I've never read anything to suggest he was racing or drunk. He assuredly was given a breathalyzer and if he was doing either thing, racing or drunk, they would've upgraded charges. They didn't. the only person responsible here is the other driver.

Although I can see a rice based version of Pringles with a Spicy (chili garlic sauce) Seaweed flavor gaining a major colt following. They should come out with that one soon.

If you have a good Asian market nearby I encourage you to go check out the snack aisle... there are so many better flavors than we get from Pringle, lays, etc. as well as other snacks in general. Flamin Lime turtle chips are immense

They were all at a birthday party where alcohol was provided for kids that were underage. He drank and drove. He was following 15 yards behind the car that was doing 124 mph that flipped and killed the young woman. Maybe not racing but definitely driving way too fast and under the influence.

"Football player Zachary Rice's case was disposed last month. He was accused of driving the second car. He pleaded guilty to possession of alcohol by someone younger than 21, and driving after consuming alcohol. Court records show he completed 52 hours of community service and a driving course."
Looks like the speeding charges were dropped.

I've not read anywhere that he was charged with driving under the influence. Cited for underage drinking but not DUI.

He was charged with speeding, underage drinking, and driving after consumption under the age of 21. This means he wasn't drunk but had allegedly had a drink.

I've seen often enough dummy #1 take off at a high rate of speed and dummy #2 trying to catch up. The only person responsible here is the girl who was driving the vehicle that crashed.

As of last week I think it's been mostly resolved. This doesn't say anything about Rice and the speeding allegation.

"North Carolina has strict zero-tolerance laws for underage drinking and driving. This means that individuals under 21 are prohibited from operating a motor vehicle with any measurable amount of alcohol in their system."

Home invasion?

Seriously, I get too busy to read this forum for a few days and we’re signing a kid linked to a home invasion?

Robbed an acquaintance in their own home for pot or something. Didn't break into a family of four's house in the middle of the night to terrorize them. Was wearing blue masks or something though, which admittedly sounds really scary.

Check out the Bridges thread for the information.

Thanks guys.

Driving way too fast is just not in the same scale of wrong doing as robbing someone, especially if the robbery occurred in the victim’s own home!

Congratulations Newbie...you've earned yourself a warning. Keep it up and you might even earn a banning and be the one moving on.
This doesn’t seem very fair to me. What did the newbie do to warrant a banning threat?

This is an internet message board so people are going to disagree and squabble. I didn’t see anything said that was so bad. And where does it say new posters aren’t allowed to debate long time posters?

Civil debate is always allowed continued attacks on any poster just because you disagree with their opinion is not. If a poster doesn't like what someone is posting they have the option to put them or the thread on ignore.

It’s ok to disagree without being disagreeable. More than half the noobs posts were disagreeable. Have an opinion, but don’t start attacking people.

Bonus demerits for attacking somebody like dasher…

A cardinal rule is that you should avoid being rude until you know who you're chatting with.
W.T.? Since when is being rude ever considered acceptable? smh

I wouldn't take someone who carelessly raced on the highway where someone lost their life. No.
Honestly , I’m kind of in the middle on this, but I look back on the incredibly stupid things I did when I was young….. I was damn lucky . I lean towards a second chance.
