Class of 2021 OLB Mikai Gbayor (NJ) Portal from Mizzou

Really impressive blend of size, speed and strength. Highlights are almost all at DE but unless he gets longer would agree that he projects as an LB. Really slippery on the edge and has excellent hand technique and long arms. I dont think I've ever seen a soph display that level of understanding, even by instinct, of creating and exploiting space on the outside. Exciting prospect.

So true.

I'd guess he's not in line to start and he wants to find a place to do that. Or maybe he ends up at Florida State with Tony White?

Missourri's projected starters appear to likely be:

Triston Newson - had 71 tackles fo Mizzu last year.

Josiah Trotter - Transfer from WVU. Had 93 tackles last year.

Damon Wilson II - Transfer from Georgia. Had 22 tackles and 3 sacks last year.

MIKAI GRAYOR IN TRANSFER PORTAL FROM MIZZOU
# 42 6' 2" 230 LB
Missouri linebacker Mikai Gbayor plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Gbayor committed to Missouri this offseason after playing two seasons at Nebraska. He soon officially entered the portal with a do not contact tag, per Pete Nakos.

Gbayor was a starter for the Cornhuskers, and totaled 73 tackles, three pass breakups and 1.5 sacks across two seasons. During the 2024 season, he played in all 12 regular season games for Nebraska and totaled 49 total tackles (20 solo), a sack, three PBU’s and two fumble recoveries. He will have two years of eligibility remaining to play for his next program.

Before college, the Irvington, NJ native was a three-star recruit out of the 2021 recruiting class, per the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. Gbayor was the No. 638 overall player in his class, the No. 64 linebacker overall and the No. 13 player out of the state of New Jersey.

Mitzi Gaynor?

I think it depends on whether any of the freshman lbs have made the jump. Brown, diggs, lashaine etc.. if not we need reinforcements in my opinion

Heard he’s visiting UNC, he also follows a lot of players and knows them from all of them being from New Jersey.
