Tomorrow is a sad day. The end of the football career of so many kids. 1,100,000 highschool kids played this year. 310,000 senior football players will graduate. Only 6.5 % will play football in the ncaa next year. This weekend of those 20,000 kids from 4 years ago 15800 will be ncaa football seniors and except for 1.6 % that will go on to play in the NFL (300) this will be the end of their football career also. Of 1.1 million kids 300 will make this their life...only half of them will make it past year 4 in the NFL. This week is the saddest week in all of football. Yes their will be a few bowl games and senior bowls etc... But the vast majority of kids will never put on the pads again after tomorrow. The past graduates will come to the field to watch their old team play and dream of the days they played. The seniors that were injured will know this it they will never take the field again. Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks but for football players everywhere it is the end of their dreams.
My son is lucky enough to be in that 6.5 percent. He may not reliaze today how lucky he is and he may never. He will cry tomorrow with his buddies he has played with his whole life but he won't cry like the kids who won't play agian.
So tomorrow if your heading to a game or going to the last game of the season or playoff game... Cheer a little harder for the kids. For most of them thanksgiving week is the week their dreams die.
