One Coach Name I like

You don't have a clue! Stop with this hate on Coach Autry! This entire conversation is ridiculous. He has not had enough time to prove anything. Syracuse fans are ridiculous. This program has been on the decline for at least the past 5-7 years of the Coach Boeheim period and it will take more than two years to revive this program...
He has had plenty of time to prove that he has no idea how to construct, manage, or develop a roster, not to mention the horror show in-game decision-making. It blows my mind that anyone can look at the program at this point and not see what has happened. Some of ya'll are just too close to it.

You're living in the past. A rebuild with a competent coach can happen in Year 1. To see a decline in Year 2 is termination-worthy for any serious program.

Take a look around college basketball, especially Louisville and Vanderbilt this year. The right head coach makes a big difference.

In my opinion, Red’s team shows no discipline. Their defense is terrible and offense is primarily iso ball taken from JB.

I get Dino vibes watching his team play.

I know, right?!? I mean, look how long it's taken Louisville to turn around the Payne disaster!

Oh, wait...
LOL, one guy, one season, doesn't make you a genius! In today's climate, rosters can turnover from one season to the next. Louisville has something that Syracuse doesn't have and it has nothing to do with Coaching. They have money! In today's climate, to turn over an entire roster with "Talented" players, you have to pay them. Red, and Syracuse missed out on the players they really wanted, who would have been better additions then the guys we brought in, because we didn't have the money to pay those guys and they took more money elsewhere. This view that Syracuse fans have about fire the coach, he or she sucks, is narrow minded and totally missing the big picture at play here.

Did you see the press conference from the UCLA men's basketball coach, Micki Cronnin? Coaching today's players is not like it used to be. The problem with this current men's team is not the coach, but the lack of talent. John Wooden couldn't get these guys to play better. Red is playing mostly man to man with players who lack the athleticism and skill to play that defense in my opinion. We have no shot blockers or rim protecters in the post. Our 3 point shooting is terrible.

The best Syracuse teams were always exciting transition scoring teams with great defense from the vaunted 2-3 zone. Name me one player on this team as talented as: Sherman Douglas, Pearl Washington, Dion Waiters, Michael carter Williams, Scoop jardin, John Wallace, Rony Seikley, Billy Owens, Derrick Coleman, Tyler Lydon, Malachi richardson,Tyus Battle, Melo, Eric Devendorf, Jerry McNamara, Stevie Thompson... many of these teams had several of these players on the same team. Building a team is like putting together a puzzle, you need the right pieces and in this NIL, transfer portal era, keeping the pieces together is a challenge and selecting and signing new pieces is even more difficult. This is why talented, seasoned coaches are getting out of college sports.
University athletic departments, alumni, Boosters, and Fans, and not just coaches, are going to all have to collectively figure out how to negotiate this new playing field. This isn't your father's College Sports Landscape anymore.

stop making excuses. the current landscape allows for you to turn a program in one year, surely in two! teams with worse NIL are better. sure red can’t play but he builds the team. these dudes are not talented but they are also don’t fit together.

also on this note, what about when louisville had kenny payne ? didn’t they have better NIL then us ? and they SUCKED. this NIL rhetoric is important but not a good excuse.

you don’t think mizzou had good NIL last year, they went 0-18 in SEC. what about michigan last year ?

A VERY short-handed LeMoyne took us to the wire. Youngstown freakin' State took it to double OT. At home. Your whole "coaching doesn't matter it's all talent" logic says those low major programs have equivalent talent to SU. Hell, the Dolphins apparently have better talent, seeing what they did without two starters, and losing a third early on. Nope, nothing to do with coaching.

Dr bill.. sir you obviously haven't been up to date on college hoops.. A coach if competent can most certainly turn a program around in 1 year.. I love Red but he seems to be in over his head

Yes of course I saw Mick Cronin‘s interview bashing his own players. It’s this kind of fire that I want as the next Syracuse head coach. I’d be all for him; he’s a much better coach than Red.

16 million dollar buyout according to the googles.

Did you see how, in the first third of yesterday’s game, we played possibly the worst defense in the history of the program? And then in the next two thirds, there was a 180-degree change? All with the same roster. So, a “talent” deficiency was not remedied with a snap of the fingers. That’s coaching. Preparedness, scheme, lineup, motivation. Coaching. If we had played D with similar intensity and intent in previous games, we’d have a more respectable record.

Coaching. Because it’s the Team that needs to be managed.

Secondly, re: roster construction in the offseason—people always blame an insufficient NIL budget, yet two other factors should be considered. 1) Players being paid less have outperformed us, because they Know How To Play; 2) Some potential transfers did not choose us, potentially because they had no trust in our staff, (lack of system), and saw the rampant dysfunction of last year.

Coaching.

Yeah, you can potentially Buy your way to more wins that we have now. But you still have the underlying, foundational problems, which then diminish your returns.

Did you not bother to read even the first sentence? Le Moyne and Youngstown St are amassing talent?

Must be nice to feel like every step you take is padded with gumdrops!

We apparently can’t amass talent because of our poverty media deal and cheap fans. Maybe the school should sue the ACC and the fanbase.

Yeah it’s wild, we still haven’t seen this team play a complete 40 minutes with great effort throughout. If we do that and we’re still losing then yes maybe we need to upgrade talent. We are 3-1 without our 5 star McDonald’s all American forward and we want to say that it’s all lack of money leading to a lack of talent. The effort and coaching has improved since ACC play, but still a long way to go for maximizing our potential. That’s why we’re winning games against teams that we probably would’ve lost to in November and December, but in reality we probably should be winning some of those games by more when you stack up the rosters of the teams.

Okay, can you explain how teams like Marquette, Wisconsin and Purdue (same NIL budget as us) out perform us? Some people do not want to acknowledge that we have a bad coach.

It's hard to get too excited after yesterday's big comeback since we basically have a new team every year. We're not building for the future like 10+ years ago. It's a clean slate after each season and we need to fund the dream team to have a fighting chance if Red is our HC.
