...We are quick to anoint, and quick to bury. Trevor Cooney has gone from a D3 player to an NBA early entry candidate in 6 weeks.

please don't compare FDR, and JFK with Marsh01
I mean, they are great and all, but they are not Marsh01..
I'm sorry. I was trying to make a point. Obviously, there is Marsh01 and everyone else is at least two notches below.please don't compare FDR, and JFK with Marsh01

I'm ecstatic that Cooney is shooting at 50% from 3 and is a terror on the defense. But c'mon, people were rightfully disappointed in seeing a kid who was a top-60 recruit with the "pure shooter" label and a redshirt freshman barely hit the rim in his season of games. There was no reason for personal attacks on the kid, but being disappointed in what he was providing was certainly appropriate given the results. I've seen plenty of high school players absolutely crater at the D1 level, but I'm not sure I've seen many do a complete 180 like this. This isn't even just improvement, he's gone from airballs to being one of the very best 3-point shooters in the country (and considering his comp is mostly from mid-majors, he's probably the best shooter right now).
I'm thrilled it clicked for him.
Guilty here. I am implementing a no post policy for myself during games and will merely lurk in the chatroom from now on. I get too emotional during the games.
I essentially told myself that at the beginning of the year. I try not to touch the internet if we're losing .Guilty here. I am implementing a no post policy for myself during games and will merely lurk in the chatroom from now on. I get too emotional during the games.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. I certainly didn't see this coming. I've been thinking about it, and I think what it comes down to is some guys just can't play 10 minutes a game and be effective, particularly shooters. They need to know that they are staying in the game regardless of whether their first 2 J's go in.I'm ecstatic that Cooney is shooting at 50% from 3 and is a terror on the defense. I only post after wins, never after losses. Learned my lesson a long time ago.I essentially told myself that at the beginning of the year. I try not to touch the internet if we're losing .
That reminds me, Igor and Blue curtain seem to be M.I.A. from the board, ...not that theres anything wrong with thatI love the board and the varied opinions, but the one thing that does bother me is the tendency of some to make absolute not to be doubted statements..things like so and so is the best whatever in SU basketball history. Or..we have the best front court in the country. On and on.
A little qualifier like "I think" or "It's possible" would probably raise others perception of the poster a few IQ points.
Making an absolute no wiggle room declaration is a sure way to intellectually back yourself into a corner.
